    Changing 49 8n Steering Box to New Style?

    I put the newer box on my 49 all I did was change links side to side and cut a piece out of dash for link to clear. It steers so much easier now like power steering. Your grease zerts will be on bottom but you can still grease them.

    I had the same problem on my finish mower drive shaft was too long. I cut a few inches of and used the orc don't know about the phase thing.

    Some kind of electronic interference it worked fine on anything else I put it on. I hope it works for you if not it didn't cost much to try.

    You can put the side chamber gasket on backwards then it won't pump and you get to drop the pump again BTDT.

    Denson is a gear reduction starter you can find them on Ebay or Amazon. link to one https://www.amazon.com/STARTER-1942-1947-8N-11001-8N-11002-9N-11002/dp/B07FZKRK14/ref=sr_1_21?dchild=1&keywords=1831810&qid=1590182256&sr=8-21 Not a Denson but works the same.

    e could put a Denson starter on it the drive gear would be on the bevel side.

    I can see why it's just spinning the engaging gear is missing it broke and fell in bellhousing. You don't need a 12v starter just a new bendix. Those new style bendixs are not very tough mine broke after about 10 starts I put the 70 year old back on it's still after 13yrs.
