    TO30 Input shaft oil seal

Hi Y'all, I posted back on Jan 2 of this year about getting ready to split the TO30 due to oil leaking out of bell housing area. I split it last week.Anyway, the back of the flywheel is as dry as a bone and the area under the input shaft is a mess of dried oil and sludge. I pulled the input...

    1952 TO30 split

I'm running 15W40 in the hydraulic system so can't tell by what's on the floor. I suspect it is from the transmission side because only about 3 gallons came out when I drained it. Oil level in the engine stays at the right level and the few drops of oil on the floor under the engine do not...

    1952 TO30 split

Howdy Y'all Getting ready to split the tractor to replace the transmission input shaft seal and while I am in there planning on replacing the clutch as it is down to the last 1 inch of travel. I have been noticing oil coming out of the weep hole at the bottom of the bell housing since this...

    Ballast resistor

Hi, Keep your points hardware. Just to give you some background on my experience with EI on my 1952 TO30. The first unit lasted about 6 months, the second and last before I went back to points was 1 month. All of the resistance across the coil and voltage were within recommended parameters. I'm...

    TO30 Ferguson lift

Just a thought but you may want to adjust the lift quadrant. Loosen the 4 bolts on the lift quadrant near the lever. Move forward or backward the lift quadrant so that the lift just starts to go down when the lever is about 1 1/2 inches from the top. Retighten bolts. Since it appears that lift...

    Starter

My personal opinion is better to have a USA made repair than to take a chance on the land of almost right.

    1952 Ferguson TO30 just quit

Just to close out this thread for now . I received my second Pertronix EI module and rotary magnet today. After installation, she fired right up and ran great . I was concerned that the input voltage to the coil was too high from the single wire alternator but after checking it at the coil it...

    1952 Ferguson TO30 just quit

Jim, you are going to have to enlighten me. I did not change out the plug wires when I change to EI. All, I know is that they are not solid copper core. What should I be looking for. I can ohm them out. Thanks Jim, Rick

    1952 Ferguson TO30 just quit

I can give parts , and people , a second chance. My primary reason for putting EI on it was the slight wobble in the the distributor shaft. I thought that a magnet would not be affected by the slop in the shaft as much as points were. I enjoy tinkering so I don't mind making mistakes with it. I...

    1952 Ferguson TO30 just quit

Changed out distributor cap and rotor for good measure, still no spark. Talked with the Pertronix folks and will have new EI in about 3 days. Nice people . Mine was a gift so no warranty for it, it was a gift over Christmas. Keep you posted, Rick

    1952 Ferguson TO30 just quit

Thanks Guys, Here we are so far, Took the voltmeter and some tools out this morning. I have 12 volts to the + side of the coil with the switch on , which also means I have 12 volts to the module. I disconnected the leads to the coil and check the resistance across the terminals, 3.5 ohms, which...

    1952 Ferguson TO30 just quit

Hi Y'all, I was just doing some light scrape blade work with my 1952 Ferguson TO30, 12v, negative ground, with electronic ignition and it just quit, not sputtered at all like a fuel issue would normally do so I suspected an electrical issue. No spark to the plugs. As it was getting dark, I left...

    Ford 8N Hydraulic Pump Removal

Hi Y'all, I just removed the hydraulic pump from my 52 8n. I tried something new to see if it would work well and boy howdy am I pleased with how easy this job was. I was dreading this job because I knew how awkward it was on the TO20 and TO30, and how hard it was on my shoulders and clothes...

    Transmission oil seal

NE NC. I was born and raised here about 20 miles south of the VA line. Daddy farmed here after coming home from the war and I inherited his 1950 Ferguson TO20 when he passed . The tractor was more worn out than anything but I restored it back to better than showroom condition. Retired to the...

    Transmission oil seal

I have ordered a clutch alignment tool with the new clutch. Is it possible to remove the housing without first removing the input shaft? I'm sure to the learned that these questions are enough to make you roll your eyes but I'm trying to remove as least amount of things in order to get the job...
