    Just for kicks......the engineers at Ford made the mistake.Prints call for the latch to be painted red,but should have been zinc plated.Vendor supplied item and so they went by the prints and painted them red. don b

    Bob.....on the 48 and early 49 8n models, four of the clips are attached to the lower panel of the front gas tank support.The wire ran from one light to the other by going OVER the upper radiator water connection with a clip connected on each side of the water connection and a clip at each...

    Dan....according to my prints...the crankshaft should be 1.865 to an undersize of 1.855.I have attempted to measure the I.D.'s of the three pulleys that we sell with a set of calipers [not exact but close].The original type[2n6312]measures 1.192.The 192160 and 192152 measure about 1.187.I may be...

    gasoline supply

    Gary.....just like to add....the gas tank vent may be clogged up by "dirt dabbers".Remove the gas tank cap and see if flow increases to a full 1/4 stream.If flow increases....drill 1/16 hole in center of removed gas cap to provide new vent and reinstall on the gas tank. don b

    2N'S did not use the tapered pin.They used a bolt and nut.You must have 9n spindles????? don b

    DC does not have the tube new.The only replacement would have to be used.I'd call them and ask for 9n6763 part number before making the trip. don b

    Steering on 9n

    Early 9ns did not have the grease zerk.....but you can purchase the dust shield cup with part number 9n3669B from this site and replace yours if it don't have the zerk hole.Works fine. don b

    Simple 8N Conversion to 12v (sketch)

    Dell....most 12v conversion kits now come with the small pulley installed on the alternator, and with the small pulley,the one wire alternator excites at about 600 rpm engine speed.No juicing required. don b

    Tractor won't run when it's under load

    Remove your fuel cap and see if it will continue to run.If it runs with cap off.....probably gas tank vent clogged up.Drill a small hole in gas cap for vent. don b

    If you have the 8n bracket from YT....It won't work on a 9n.The throttle rod bracket interferes. don b

    If you have adjustable lifters...the adjusting screw threads may be worn and letting it back off.May need to check them and replace lifter[s] if necessary. don b
