    wee bit hard to get it over the ball at the bottom,, the knob will come off, I have had to use Big water pump liars some call them channel locks and even a pipe wrench to get them off some times they break if so then turn off the insert and get a new one , I like to roll the bottom lip...

    Yes there is a pipe that goes over the pin to keep the lower bucket link arms apart,, the hyd port was something some installed to runa breaker or thumb attachment ect

    number 4 is inside the pump bore to seal the rear end of the suction tube

    If the suction oring does not fix it, you have a couple other things to check,, the suction screen may be plugged creating a vacuum making it air lock or the pump is shot
