    The filters are recent and the return line is clear. I ll try filing the plunger. If that doesn t work, is there any reason not to run a cable to the shut off lever? I would just have to make sure to turn the ignition off, but I don t leave the key in it when it is parked.

    You mentioned a plunger with a slot in it or one that is D shaped. Both of the ones I have are round.

    I have tried a direct 12 volts and a direct ground to the battery with the same results.

    I took the solenoid off and it had fuel behind the plunger. The new solenoid spring was a little longer and the plunger stuck out a little further than the old one. I put the plunger and spring from old solenoid in the new one. It would start and run about 3 or 4 minutes and then started...

    I haven t gotten around to taking the plunger out, but I do remember fuel running out when I took the solenoid off. Is that normal?

    Thanks. The solenoid is new, but it was cheap, if that has anything to do with it. I will try that and reply back.

    Got a case 580 se backhoe with a 4 cylinder Cummins. The injector pump looks as though it has been rebuilt at some point. I have owned this machine since November of 21.
