    U.I.S-Unidentified International Sicklemower!

Barnyard, that's it! "Drive gears fully enclosed and run in oil" That's the missing detail from all the other cutters I've seen pictures of! Of course, this one's all hacked up to fit the Case, with a different drawbar, but that's it! Thank you so much! Now all I need is to find a maintenance or...

    U.I.S-Unidentified International Sicklemower!

James, what is confusing me is, the 25 seems to be a popular comparison, except mine has no belt-drive whatsoever. The PTO shaft goes to an gearbox, with the pittman arm running off a flywheel on a shaft coming out of the lower part of said gearbox and going straight to the cutter. You can see...

Okay, so yes, IHC built things for Farmall. That answers that! This thing is stamped all over with the early IHC logo, the IH inside the C.

    New Idea Horn loader

Hey, maybe reviving an old thread will help someone else like us in identifying what they have! Here's a picture of mine from last winter. I forgot to get a better shot while I was there over this past week. (they are stored 2.5 hours from where I live on the other side of the mountains) At the...

    U.I.S-Unidentified International Sicklemower!

Fritz, the lift pipe is the second incarnation since I've known this machine (purchased as you see it from the widow of a neighbor of my childhood home) There was "originally" a wooden bar there, bolted to that angle iron. The remains are still there, sandwiched between the angle iron and the...

    New Idea Horn loader

I've got a '49 Case VAO with that mid-model "505" loader on it. This is nice info to have, thank you!

More pictures, could only add so many at once. I am very hopeful this will be enough for someone to id this thing!

    U.I.S-Unidentified International Sicklemower!

I will be getting pictures when it cools off outside, but I wanted to get the ball rolling first. I have an IH sickle mower hooked to a '47 Case VAO. Both belonged to a neighbor of mine, and I bought them off his widow to save them from the junkyard. The mower parts are stamped with the original...

    VAO only firing with starter

I completely forgot about this forum. For anyone else having this problem, it turned out to be the wire from the starter button to the ignition switch was on the wrong side of the starter button. I was panicking when I posted originally, because I only had a small window to move the tractor...

Oops, it didn't work the first try!

    VAO only firing with starter

I pulled this diagram off an old thread of this forum. The only difference is my VAO is negative ground. What else needs to change on this to work for that (to make sure I've got all the wires in the right place)

    VAO only firing with starter

I apologize for not making that clear. I forgot that some have been converted, and it confused me when you said 12 volts! I will double check the wiring diagram next time I'm where the tractor is.

    VAO only firing with starter

The battery was brand new off the shelf. Why 12 volts? This is a 6-volt system

    VAO only firing with starter

Neither of my tractors have anything like that. The coil is in it's bracket mounted to a strap of metal running across the sheet metal to one of the studs holding the valve cover on. A wire runs from starter button to the Off side of the power switch, then from the On side of the power switch to...

    VAO only firing with starter

That blew out the points and condenser.... wouldn't run at all with a bypass wire
