Does the type of oil pressure gage make a difference?
I bought a gauge recommended for the M from a common supplier of restoration parts. When installed on my M it would peg out at idle with 10W-30 in it. I finally called Jerry Trcka at Evergreen Restorations and explained my concern. He told me that the M operated at a higher oil pressure than...- cbtrains

Cole, something that may help me search for those slots. What is the orientation of the slots to the horizontal axle tube?- cbtrains

JD M spindle bearings
Cole, I call myself scratching all around this surface. I'll check again, but I have seen no sign of the slots. All the grease has been removed. I would have thought that the surface for the washer to bear on would be flat. But there is a groove around the outside of this surface about 1/8"...- cbtrains

JD M spindle bearings
I have removed the failed lower needle bearing from my cast wheel standard axle. The JD repair manual says that the upper thrust washer (M427T) has ears which should be inserted in slots in the tube. Well, no slots, but the new washer does have the ears. What is the bearing surface for this...- cbtrains
