    Why not pull the engine and do it all, cam bearings front and rear mains and so fourth. Make sure to measure the sleaves once you install them and then measure your new pistons and match each one to a sleave for the correct fit.     Take the fan belt off so the water pump isn't turning and try it. If it does it without the water pump turning its compression in the cooling system and the head will be coming off.

    I know what a cooler block looks like because my 1855 has one and both them pics are cooler blocks. The one that scooter posted is a by pass filter not a cooler. You can see the coolant lines going to the cooler.

    I've been around 4 digit's for a long time and have never seen an add on oil cooler. How did it mount and I take it there must have been external coolant lines? Pics??

    Different block ,the cooler is casted right into the block. They were usually updated because the original block ventilated itself. Another thing to look for is the updated 12 point rod bolts. If you pull the dipstick and shine a light in the hole rotate the engine till that rod comes around you...

    Thanks rustred I appreciate that. The ground I was referring to was on the preheater itself. It looks like it has an ear for a ground to hook too.

    Can anyone tell me where the large cable that runs from the starter to the preheater solenoid is supposed to be routed from factory? Picture would be great. The ground just goes down to a valve cover stud correct?

    What engine do you have and what's in the combine? The combine could be a 301 gasser D301 diesel or a D310 diesel depending on serial number. Lot of variables if your looking for and easy transplant.

    1855 rear end lube pump

    Does the lube pump drive off of the input shaft? The reason I ask is because I want to start it without installing the IPTO shaft. I just finished an overhaul and want to light it before I put all the steering and hydraulic lines back on so it easier to do a retorque and valve reset.

    Very easily done, the holes for the side spears are already drilled they actually just stuck the White decals right over the holes.

    Mine says White. When I called the Floyd County museum to get the birth certificate for mine I asked about 2255 Cockshutts and the man said there were none that left the plant but he heard rumors of them and said they are just rebadged whites by guys.
