Interesting things you have, or had in the past on your place

We still have the remenents of the stump puller my ancestors used to clear the farm. This is in west Michigan after they logged it off. They lined the stumps around the property line and then strung barbed wire on them. This is the tri pod style with a big screw in the middle as a boy I remember...

Milwaukee Sawzalls - corded vs battery

My sister bought a battery Milwaukee , mainly for trimming branches on our trails. I must say it works great for that. One time I used it to cut up an overgrown bush , a chainsaw would of been better but it wasn't nearby. It cut a lot but the battery died so I dragged out an extension cord and...

    Mylar decals

They make a rubber eraser wheel you chuck up in a drill or die grinder. Be careful at first to make sure the paint is tough enough. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Astro-Pneumatic-Eraser-Pad-for-Pinstripe-Removal-Tool-AST400E/206859130

Methods of getting stuck bolts out.

My motto too. And an oxy , acetylene torch is my go to. Sometimes rattling them and around them with a air hammer helps too. And it depends on the rust. Michigan rust is worse than Arizona rust.

    Recommendation for Quality Air Hose

I think one hose at work might be a Flexzilla. it's several years old , at first it was great but now it's a stiff hose that always wants to coil itself up and catches on everything. We do have 150 psi which can make a difference. We also have Gates which lay flat and stay flexible.

    Synthetic oil

That's what my Dad did too. He was a mechanic and remembered when he'd do rings bearings and a valve grind at 40,000 miles. Now spark plugs last 100,000 . If he went on vacation across country he would do an oil change after a couple thousand before heading back home. As he got older he would go...

Thinking about building a truck from basically scratch

Depending on the bodyshop that type of work isn't desirable for the tech to work on. You can produce more dollars per paycheck on collision work than restoration. If you have a 5 hr dent and get it done in 3 hrs you still get paid 5 hrs. You can spend more time than you get paid for fixing up...

Step to get in pickup truck

Would a bumper from a newer model fit ? G M made ones with a factory step in each corner . I would think it would bolt to the frame if it clears the sheetmetal. Check with a local salvage yard.
