    Lifter adjustment

I could use some jaws similar to that. I went ahead and ordered the spring tool for removing the clips on the valve guides on the flatheads. In a couple days I'll see what I can do with the lifters.

    Lifter adjustment

I wondered about how to hold the lifters if I decided to work on them. I don't have aluminum jaws on my vice but I will for sure come up with something to hold them without damaging the surface. I've been reading about these today on various forums.

    Lifter adjustment

It's been rough going this winter but I'm now getting things back together on this 8n overhaul. Anyhow they put new valves with the adjustable lifters in and drilled holes to hold them while adjusting. I was able to get the #1 exhaust set but it turned very, very, very hard. On the #1...

    Differential bearings

I appreciate all the advice. The races look smooth and not scarred up. I'll probably just go back together as it is.

SHOP & SEAT TIME - Troubleshooting + Midnight Plowing

Very nice pics and great info on the valves. Great to see it working in the field. I have a new single bottom 14" plow and a 2-12 AO plow I need to restore.

    Differential bearings

My engine overhaul is now much more but it will be great when I get it done. Steering gear is getting new bearings and sector seals also. Anyhow I pulled the left trumpet off to remove the lower arm pins as I'm replacing both of them. I was wondering about the big differential bearings. The...

    Here?s someone a deal

Typically I don't find them for much under 1800 around here. I bought mine in 2005 for 1700 and was pleased to have found one I could afford. I replaced all the tires and put new rear rims on and then it went to work. 1500 is about the cheapest I've seen any N series around here in Oklahoma.

    Early 8n begining engine overhaul

I had wanted a stand of this style for a long time and finally got one when I worked on my 970 Case engine. I really love that engine stand. I can access everything on the block easily that I will be working on. The valve work will be done at the machine shop. He is going to hot tank it and...

    Early 8n begining engine overhaul

If I weren't tearing this engine down this far I'd consider honing the sleeves. I don't have the tools to measure the bore with. I have the sleeve tools on the way though. Indeed the block, crank, rods and head are all going to a machine shop. I want the block cleaned and checked and I want to...

    Early 8n begining engine overhaul

Thanks great info there for sure. I sent an email regarding the sleeve tool.

    Early 8n begining engine overhaul

I haven't been an active member for a long time but signed back up. Anyhow I'm finally getting to rebuilding the engine and repainting my early 8n. It has worked hard for me and I let it go longer than I should have. Crank is rough. Had about 30 psi cold and then less than 10 hot. I thought it...

    AC 2-row planter identification needed

I'm pretty sure that's a 400 series. I have a four row pull type with runner openers that has the same planter unit frame design. I found a couple reproduction operators manuals and a used parts book on Ebay not too long ago.
