    640 engine turns over by hand while in gear

    ok it seems I was paranoid. The engine will turn over a bit before it engages the transmission. I kept turning engine and it finally engaged the wheels. Tractor is back together now and running fine. Thanks for the comments and ideas.

    Ok with trans in neutral and pto engaged, i cannot turn the pto shaft in one direction.

    ok i engaged the pto and could not turn it one way by hand. is the pto not tied in with the tractor wheel gears? is it a direct connection to the transmission and engine?

    thank you for the replies. I can't think of any reason why it still turns either except that I put something together wrong. Just trying to make sure before I pull it back apart.

    I replaced the flywheel ring gear. When I slid the engine and transmission back together, I am still able to turn the crank with a wrench with the shifter in gear. I have not refilled the hydraulic oil yet and Im wondering if that has something to do with it. Looking for ideas. I don't...
