    JD 214 slow moving

So figured out the 2 bushings are press fit but needed to be cleaned up along with the mounting bolt. Amazing what a little bit of graphite powder will do to loosen up the sheave. Had to replace 3 of the 4 motor mounts but now she is running like she should be. Thanks for the tip on the...

    JD 214 slow moving

OK so the center turns and moves side to side but will clean the shaft and relube as it seems a little tight. Now on the mounting bolt - the long bolt that holds the assembly to the frame - there are two brass bushings inside the bracket. Should they be spinning freely inside or are they...

    JD 214 slow moving

Drive belt came off the other day. Replaced the primary belt, secondary belt and the drive pulley sheave. Adjusted the variator according to the operators manual. Now the tractor moves very slow. Running in 4th is like being in second. The brake pedal doesn't seem to be coming up all the way...

    farmall h governor

The movement of the vertical rod is what controls the carb via the governor. It maybe something that is NOT loose (but should be)inside the governor. Take off the side cover and check the spring. The spring is attached to 2 arms. The one on the left is for setting high/low speeds for the...

    H lack of power

Turns out I did not replace the points (too many motors and not enough memory) just the cap and rotor. Points are shot so that gets done tomorrow. Since there is little or no gap on the points I am surprised she is running at all.

    H lack of power

I pulled the cover off but couldn't see any signs of broken/worn parts. Did note that the governor sleeve was slow to return so I sprayed the area down with PB Blaster. Actually the whole area seemed like it didn't get much oil in it as most of the parts were fairly dry. Put it back together...

    H lack of power

The old girl decided to start acting up the other day. Began to lose power while pushing snow. Checked compression today and is 105-110 on all 4. Reset the carb and got it to sound like full power is there at WOT. Start to put a load on and drags it down. This happens just putting it in gear...

    Front rim mounting on H

Had a little mishap the other day when the bolts worked loose on one of the front wheels. The hoops that the bolts pass thru didn't take the stress of the turn along with the load of snow in the bucket. Result was as you can guess with 2 of the hoops snapping off the rim. Only reason the 3rd...

continous use of H lift all pump

I wired the lift all pump lever back so that it is always on unless the the clutch is disengaged or the motor is off. Is there any severe wear to the pump from doing this or will it be OK as long as fluid is moving through the system? I did install an open center spool for use with 2 way...

    JD 317 hydro pump rebuild

Thanks for the replies. At least I know they are replaceable if need be. The tractor has sat for the past couple years so hopefully they will reseal with use and cleaning. Not so big a leak as to be a major concern but still annoying.

    JD 317 hydro pump rebuild

Picked up a 317 and note that the 2 plungers that control whether you are driving or pushing the tractor are leaking. Is there a kit available to fix this problem?

    o/t ford f250

One more thing to think about is what kinda hoops will your state DMV make you jump through to register the vehicle since VIN number would no longer be valid as a 2 wheel drive?

    H lft all

Which port are you using for the pressure side? Some ports were fitted with a delay valve though I don't know what if any effect that would have on a loader. Also sometimes takes awhile for the fluid to warm up in our cold temps and while the fluid in the belly warms due to being pumped...

    farmall M log splitter problems

Recently was told to run my return line into the drain port for the belly pump on my H instead of through a T at the fill port. With the vented cap the oil will choose path of least resistance and come out the vent hole. That or replace the vent cap with a closed plug but better to keep the vent...

    Wide front

One more item of note. If you plan on using the hubs from your 300 measure the bearing surfaces on the stub axle. The later M,400 and 450 are bigger than the 300,H,350 and early M. A&I Products carries new steering knuckles for the wide fronts. Also check the bearings on the uprights. When the...
