    Swamp People show

I injoy watching and listening to Troy as much as the rest combined. I'm with you on the repo crapola. I can't watch those misfits more than 5 minutes without washing my face and hands. They should come to Texas where it's legal for the car owner to fill their fat azz with buckshot if they...

OT — Cedar post? Is there a difference in the cedars?

What we commonly call "red cedar, aromatic cedar"is actualy juniper and as everyone agrees, makes great fence posts. But the champion is still Bois d arc when you can find it.

    Silly things!

Come on now! You mean to tell us you don't know what that lumberjack would do if he found out later that you had passed worthless bills on him? Not much the girl could do other than loose her job.

    Somewhat OT - Painting cabinets

The problems with advise you get here is that we don't know what material cabinets are made of and what finish is on them now. For instance,if they are oak and you paint a light color, the open grain will show as black pin holes unless you use a filler first. The unknown finish can ruin the job...

    O/T Steel Roofs.........

Some steel manufactures will warranty thier product if it is applied over composition shingles if you install battens between. None warranties when applied without battens. As you are researching and comparing prices, always price the trim because 1 lin ft of trim costs same as 1 lin ft of 3 ft...

    Talkin about burlap...

If you mom wore a burlap blouse, she must have been one tough gal. We wore many garments made of cotton flower sacks.

    copper vs aluminum electrical wire

Aluminum wire works fine with any size conductor if it is installed correctly. You must use devices that were desighned for al wire. Some devices are desighned for both al and cu. The anti-corosion paste helps(esp cu to al connections) but the root problem is that both wires expand as...

    Craftsman tools

I have always been happy with Craftsman. On the other hand I wouldn't own a hand tool from Harbor Freight if I could buy it on someone else's credit card. I have bought a few in a pinch rather than going home to pick up what I needed. I either broke it,throwed it away or got my money back every...

Clearing out a fencerow , just couldn't do it to this oak...

When we bought our present place 42 years ago there was elm, willow and fruitless mulberry in the yard. We closed in December and rented the place back to the seller until April 1st to allow him to finish his new house and move his operation. My mom and I planted fruit trees...

    Propane

If a motor was equiped when new for LP,it has hard seats on the exhust valves and higher compression ratio compared to same engine on gas. If you refer to a tractor service manual the same is true. Bottom line,an old tractor on lp origionaly back in the day and converted to gas now is actualy...

    Bracing floor from below

Light weight concrete or floor underlayment would be my choice if there is no flex in the floor because both will support heavy load but will crumble if flexed. If the floor gives and flexes, you can buy portland based products that use latex liquid additive instead of water.

    O/T Ford 6.0 engine

The advise that SO Jefferson gave you is the way to go. No offense but you need to be asking people that work on these engines instead of those who work on 50 year old tractors. In addition to Dieselstop forums,Fordtruckenthusists forum can be a lot of help. By the way, don't take anything else...

    Caution,objects may be closer

I savay convex mirrors and have added them to vehicles for years when thought to be needed. For the life of me I can not back trailers into close quarters looking at the right hand mirror on trucks now days. Is it because I learned to back before they put the wide view mirrors on or did I forget...

    OT Field Corn

I never tasted sweet corn before adulthood. Everyone (north central Texas)planted Yellow Dent and after geathering what they wanted the remainder was alowed to mature for livestock feed. That practice continues today with some in the area including my family. I never heard compliant from...

Trailer Lights, more on the subject

I take the time to install trailer lights with good connections and have 90% less problems than others I see trying to get lights "working well enough to get by until they have time to install new lights". Cause of majaroty of light problems is poor ground. I braze a brass bolt to the trailer...
