RTV gasket for D264 front covers etc.

First, I'm a very firm believer in modern RTV silicone sealers in place of gaskets in most places. I buy a gasket or make one only when there's a compelling reason not to use RTV, such as when a critical clearance is maintained by the gasket thickness, etc. That being said, is there any...

    400 Disk Brake dissasembly

If you have a slide hammer that you can fix to the end of the splined shaft, where you have a shiny bolt screwed in there now, you should be able to pull the bull pinion and that seal housing/brake disc together. There's nothing holding it from the inside. The seal housing has a large o-ring...

    SMTA DIESEL

So, I take it that someone kept up with the first number each month that got the diesel engine, but subsequent numbers were assigned as the the tractor came down the line, whether gas or diesel, with no record? This means that a given numeric serial, say 78270 for example, could have been...

I love the tractors but the IH man sign on the corner of the building is what I lust for! Where can I get one of those? Anybody?

Aftermarket brake shaft, mislabeled or mis-made?

I ordered a brake pedal shaft for the SMD, looked up part number 357046R1 on the CaseIH site, ordered from an aftermarket source by that number, and the package came with that number on the label. As the photo illustrates, with the right hand ends matched up, the left hand end is all wrong...

Super M brake pedal shaft removal

It gets tight when I try to slide it out. Have pedals, etc. off both sides, cleaned/deburred exposed ends of shaft. Shaft rotates freely and moves back and forth freely an inch or two, then gets very tight. Do I just drive it on out of there?

    Frame rail removal

I'm glad you asked this question, as I need to do the same thing. The Colby 560 project a while back had pictures of this very thing, and I was hoping to do my Super MD the same way. Mine's narrow front.

Simplifying hydraulic plumbing on Stage II Super M?

I would pay a fair price if you keep all the mounting hardware, brackets, control rods, etc. together. We can discuss what a fair price is, and I assume you would have to box and ship it. I can help there by sending a UPS label that doesn't cost you anything. I have a UPS account and ship...

    Front end looks funny...

Arranging the pedestal like this results in negative caster in the front end. Those wheels will try their dead level best to spin themselves back around when you're driving forward, just like a shopping cart wheel does.

    Bracket Identification Help

There is a loader here on the farm that I believe to be a #31. It hasn't been mounted on a tractor in nearly 30 years, and dad thinks it's never been mounted on this tractor, so who knows why the bracket is on this tractor. The answers for pictures 1, 2 and 4 make perfect sense. There...

    Bracket Identification Help

Looking for information of the pictured brackets. I think some are farmer made, and maybe who knows what for! Best guesses are welcome too. 1st pic is on the left front of a SMD. That's probably about a 3/8" thick plate with about a 1" thick reinforcement welded onto it at the attaching...
