    OT: Swedish tractor with turbo charger?

    My sister (knowing I was really happy to have my 8N running again) sent me this video of a Swedish guy who turbo charged his (unknown brand) tractor. I think the follow-up video probably said, "...and then I bought a new set of rear tires for about $700." Untitled URL Link

    Tim: It's from Saf T Cab, out of Fresno, CA. http://www.saftcab.com/ It cost $490 (in 1999), plus tax and freight. 2" seatbelt, which helps to keep you in the seat when you're bumping around.

    ps: carb bowl is full of gas, so the fuel is there awaiting to be suctioned. That's how it works, right?

    Update: Went out and got a few new parts today. Started working on this last summer, and it looks like I didn't get all new parts for a "tune up." I was able to rule out some stuff today, so that was good, but it's still not starting, but backfiring fairly regularly at #4 manifold. No...

    My 50 8n side mount is still non op. Original post is back on 6-14-13 if you're interested. Original issue was really gummed carb...like 3/4" of crud built up/grew from a missing gasket. Water got inside and mixed with gas. Real mess. Used to be old faithful tractor. Carb is all cleaned...

    HOBO...thanks for the info on the TDC and pistons. I'll check out the spark tester. It's not so much guessing (ok, a bit, but more on the side of diagnostics), but more deferred maintenance. Best Dave

    Had my son helping me today. Much better to work with someone else...and in the shade. See pix. (Note: The N's engine was rebuilt 13.5 yrs ago when I bought it, so it's been nothing but faithful until I left the key on a while back.) Today we: *"Cooked" each plug via propane torch and wire...

    Ok...back at it today. Thanks for the comments. I decided to pop up an "easy up" canopy over the N to help with the sun. Also am battling wasps who have a hidden nest(s) on the tractor. Hopefully, today, it'll start.

    Side Mount I did change the spark plug wire locations. Had it mixed up. I'm assuming #1 on the cap is next to the "1" on the cap. Assuming #1 plug is front of engine. Checked spark at all plugs. Jumping .025 gap regularly. It looked yellow in the sunlight. Does the spark color matter...

    My N has been sitting for a while after failing to start. It used to start up w/a little bit of choke and 1/4 throttle....very faithful. I left the key on, and I may have fried the points, but I also later found my carb was extremely fouled, due to a bad gasket...water and gas really corroded...
