    Flambeau Red - Rustoleum Mix

I haven't had paint mixed but I did use rustoleum lobster red from Home Despot on the hitch parts of the 2590 and was 'good enough' for me.

    New Hytran?

Just switched the bulk barrel to Cenex Quicklift HTB this spring. It meets the latest CNH MAT specs for the cvt tranny in the newest horse as well as the specs for the older Hytran oils. Bonus was the cost was 30% less than the CNH brand and Cenex came out to fill the barrel. I ran Mobil 424...

Out with the old in with the New

Price was right and I needed some parts

Now that the grease and oil is off, will you paint them power white or desert sunset? What?s the background story for the fire?

    Where Have The Years Gone?

Interesting story. Did you get back to the place as years passed? I just visited Ft Knox and it isn?t what I remember from 1989 - almost wish I hadn?t stopped there. No basic training and no tanks since 2011. As far as time going fast, I figure life is like a spool of thread on a sewing...

    Any work getting done?

Soggy but steady here in SE MN. Seems to rain just as the ground gets fit. Been testing the lights the few times we?ve been able to roll. Overall we?re in ok shape and have to be thankful for when looking around and see others truly suffering.

    Warmer Chisel-Planter days...

Thanks for sharing those pictures. When were they taken and what is being planted? Finally got into the 20's over the weekend here in SE Mn after a cold stretch of below zero highs.

    A Thief With Good Taste

Good looking helper. Pups are a lot of work but the good ones are worth it. Daughter chose the name for our pup, Case.

Shop tips for finding source of leak

Any tips or tricks for finding the source of an oil leak when the bottom side is all soaked? I don't have access to a steam cleaner to degrease it in the cold weather. Any experience with the UV dye detectors? The tractor is due for fluid changes fairly soon so I don't have a problem with...

    Case HyTran vs generic

Went through some of the same research a while back with the 2590 and 7140. The current Hytran "ultraction" is a 10-30 oil and is thicker than previous hytran formulas. JD HyGard is/has been a 10weight for a long time. The hytran had to be thicker for the cvt transmissions and replace the...

    A good 5 year run - 2590 is gone

The last of the JI Case heritage left the farm this month. I had a 7140 magnum (which I consider a Case with an IH tranny) and in 2013 picked up a good one owner 2590 as a backup/second horse. I believe the 2590 was the lowest operating cost tractor I have owned in my 20+ years of farming on...

7120 trying to go into park while moving

This might help. If interested in the whole book you can have it for $15 plus postage since I traded the tractor last year.

7120 trying to go into park while moving

I don't recall all the details from mine but the linkage lever in the shift quadrant needed to be tweeked a bit too. The pawl and shaft it ride on had to be replaced - $/pound of parts was crazy expensive. Looked at old maint records and the total job paying a "shop rate" of $65 was just over...

7120 trying to go into park while moving

the cable on my 7140 stretched over time and parklock started to do some bad things....they don't like to be pulled out of park on an incline or with a load pushing/pulling on them. Start by checking that the linkage toggles the cam "over center" under the right hand side of the tractor. For...

    Reducing fuel usage in 2394

Many jobs I can run my 2590 at 1300-1400 rpm instead of full throttle. Throttle back and shift up cuts fuel usage on most machines. If you need pto speed, options are limited
