    Painting

You mean 2150 in the can (that I purchase form my International dealer for the purpose of paint restoration) isn"t what I should be using? You"re telling me that this stuff differs from the 2150 in the quart that I would spray on with my compressor? Why do I find this difficult to believe? If it...

    H questions, electrical and brakes.

Two questions. First, I"ve got the headlights from my H torn down. The housings are pitted but OK - the wiring and other little bits of hardware need to be replaced. Any suggestions for a supplier of such little things? Also ... have brakes torn down and ready to go back together. It"s been...

    Belt replacement on Vermeer 605C

Makes sense. Is it gonna make much a difference in performance if I shorten to a least common denominator? The only thing I can see is that my maximum bale size will be a bit smaller. Right?

    Belt replacement on Vermeer 605C

I finally decided to replace the worst of the five 4" belts on my Vermeer 605C round baler. When I measured the old belt (the one being replaced) it measured 337" - that"s 3" short of the length of a new belt. What am I to do? Install the new belt as is (it"s the correct length 440" - but 3"...

    Electrical for Dummies

Can anyone recommend a resource that will describe, in detail, the difference between generators, alternators, and magnetos. The pros and cons and how to setup each system. I'm redoing an H (my first restore) which had an alternator and I'm thinking about getting back to something closer to the...

    Water pump on H.

I was told to be careful of the felt seal in the waterpump housing of an H. Was cleaning things up today and messed it up a bit. I messed the ridge that presses against the generator pulley. I haven't talked to my parts man yet - but I'm guessing the thing can't be replaced. What do you all...

Response to TheMan about Fan Hub.

This is a reply to that of TheMan from yesterday ... wasn"t sure if you"d be able to dig that far down in the forum so I posted upfront. Anyone who wants to should address this issue about fan/hub removal. I"m confused. I did get that pin from the pump drive out today and was able to remove...

    More help with fan hub.

I posted a similar question and didn't get much help. I'm trying to remove the fan as a start to replacing a cracked pulley. Does that pin in the water pump driver need to be removed for the driver to come off its shaft? If so ... can I bang on it?

Cracked fan hub on an H.

Hey guys. I discovered today that the fan hub is cracked on my h. [Case Part #54159DA). From looking at the schematic it would appear pretty complicated to replace this. Am I correct? There"s that spring loaded water pump drive in the very front - that alone looks tricky. And all those seals and...

Air cleaner breather pipe on an H.

Does anyone happen to have a photo (or good advice) of the air cleaner from an H? There is a brass nut soldered into the side of the air cleaner to which the air cleaner breather pipe (which connects to the cylinder head) attaches. That brass nut came loose on my machine. I've ground everything...

    Thermostat on an H

Two questions regarding the thermostat on an H. First, how the heck does one get the thing out of the housing? Pry it? Unscrew it? Let me know. Also what do I replace it with? I see two available replacements: 165-190 and 130-155 (low boiling). I'm guessing the 165-190 ... what the heck is the...

    Tire sizes

Sorry for a question that has perhaps been asked many times before. I'm restoring an H and would like to think about getting some new rubber for it. I've got both front and rear hubs that originally supported steel wheels. These were torched and then welded to rims which currently hold rubber...

Aftermarket (rubber washers) Parts for an H

I'm looking for the (two) rubber washers for the radiator for an H ... and the (three) washers for the fuel tank. Case doesn't sell them anymore but I'm guessing I can get them aftermarket. Let me know. Thanks.

    Steering Bolster?

For those of you who may have followed my post from last week about removing the vertical steering shaft from an H ... I finally got the thing out yesterday. Thanks for all the help - you guys were right - just hit it HARD. The steering bolster (the bowl that holds the oil) is worrying me now...

    Sprayer Recommendation

I'm working on my FIRST restoration (have posted quite a few questions in the last little while - thanks guys for all the good words). My wife gave me a Black & Decker power sprayer for Christmas a couple of years ago and I used it the other day to prime the rear rims on the H I'm working on. No...
