    Headache

Don't know exactly what your situation looks like but I had good luck removing a wheel from an H with lots of heat and a gear puller. Heated the hub and then cranked on the puller - hard - she popped off with a 'snap.' Preceeded this treatment with lots of penetrating lubricant. Good luck.

    Fan Hub on an H.

I'm just putting the fan hub back together. The generator/alternator belt pulley presses back on the hub and is fixed with a pin - so it's where it's supposed to be. When I slide the hub back on the pump shaft collar - does the hub slide down into the water pump housing such that you can't see...

    Brakes on a 1520

Forgive me for not having investigated this issue on my own - but I was at the computer and didn't think it would hurt to ask before I took a look on my own. What kind of brakes would a 1520 diesel have? And, is there an adjustment to them? I'm guessing they're hydraulic. How do you get at them...

    Sorry ... 1942 H ...

    Distributor work

Hmm ... what if she's pretty well torn apart at this point? I don't imagine there's a change in heck I'm going to get the engine to crank - no way. Am I out of luck? Once I remove the distributor and distributor housing am I free to also remove the bracket (up against the oil fill)?

    Distributor work

Take a look at the photo. Please tell a real beginner what he's looking at. Left to right, distributor, distributor housing, and distributor bracket off an H. If I should take this group apart at the arrows tell me what I can expect? Since this system of housings is so closely associated with...

    Water pump on H.

Great. Thanks for putting my mind at rest. Now I can put the thing back together. Maybe you can also let me know if I only need to repack the very end of the sleeve where it widens about the shaft? I'm assuming so since the shaft fits pretty tightly for most of the length of the sleeve. Finally...

    Finally got her done

Wow. I'm doing my very first restore now on an H. If mine looks half that good I'll be delighted. Any chance you could post the original photo, at its original resolution (the one you posted was only 142kb) to me for a computer desktop photo? If so .. send to [email protected]. Thanks - and...

    More help with fan hub.

Would you believe I got the pulley off today? Once I found the pin it was easy. I'm now looking at the parts schematic and can't determine how the sleeve (part #10) that holds the shaft (#9) is actually held into the housing. I figure since I've got the thing apart this far perhaps I should...

    More help with fan hub.

Last questions, I promise. I've been looking for the pin which you described as anchoring the generator pulley. Can't find it for the life of me ... say again where it can be found? I've had my hands and eyes all over this hubs with no luck. The adjustable hub is deinately cracked so I'm glad...

    Painters...opinion needed.

Hey folks ... don't jump on me for asking ... I'm new to tractor work ... am doing my first restoration right now. What are the risks of spraying out of doors with a hardware store variety fiber mask? I'm using IH/Case paints enamel/primer right out of the can .. and rattle cans as well. When I...

    More help with fan hub.

And now that I have the hubs freed ... how to I get them off the shaft given that the water pump belt is still holding them fast? Also ... what's packing? Thanks.

    More help with fan hub.

I'm confused. I did get that pin out today and was able to remove the fan and pump drive. The fan is screwed to what looks like a threaded hub with some sort of large nipple on it. Behind that is another hub with a big set screw. Behind this is the pump belt and then the generator belt. Are you...

    More help with fan hub.

OK ... sounds like I"ve got a job for tomorrow. Tell me ... this may sound like a dumb question ... but how does one normally replace a fan belt on the H? By loosening up the water pump? Given the responses I got back I don"t think I"m gonna replace the cracked hub - it seemed to work OK before...
