    loboy problem

Maybe the starter bendex is stuck? If that's the problem, just loosen the starter bolts enough to move the starter out about an inch and it should release. My Super A does this once in a while. HTH

    450 pop in exhaust

After I rebuilt My Super A I had the same problem. Poping out of the exhoust. I checked timing, plugs, carb, valve timing, valve adjustment, compression, etc. I found everything good and in spec. I ran it like that for quite a while, all the while scratching my head for an answer. Then while...

    plug wires

Just wanted to let you guys in on a lesson learned. After I rebuilt my Super A engine I didn't bother to buy a set of copper core plug wires. I figured if carbon core wires worked on my Toyota then why in the world wouldn't they work on my SA? Besides, I had a whole milk crate of carbon core...

    pressure plate opinions

I bought a clutch from this site a year or two ago. The fingers were no-where near where they should have been. One was 1/4" lower than the others. It also had a paper that said it was adjusted at the factory and not to adjust. If I had listened to that, I would have had an inoperable clutch...

    Cracked block repair

My super A was cracked in exactly the same place. I tried JB weld with no luck. I Ved the crack and let it set for 3 days. About 5 hours of off and on running and the crack came back right in the middle of the JB weld. I thought, well maybe I didn't use enough JB weld so I ground out the JB weld...

super A steering box rebuild questions

Hi All, I'm fixing to rebuild my steering box on my '48 Super A and I have a few questions for you guys. I've looked around for a kit for the rebuild and have found they sell for $60 to $100. It looks like they all have the same parts in them (2 bearings, 2 seals, 2 bushings and a gasket). So...

    cub clutch question

I ran into that with my Super A and was told on this forum that the old graphite one shouldn't be used with a new pressure plate as the graphite "wears in" and may not engage the new pressure plate correctly. Also, in order to use a bearing throw-out you have to buy the housing that the bearing...

    painting rims

Which ever aluminum type paint you use, if you go over it with scotch bright when the paint is dry, it makes it look more like galvanized than aluminum. HTH

cub help,, i diagnosed myself into a corner

A compression test is in order. That will tell you if you have major mechanical problems like burnt valves or bad rings.

    Farmall C Front Wheel Slop

I just did a Super A with the same problem. It had about 1/4 inch play when the bearings were loaded. Long story short, the bearing just showed a little ware but that was the problem. I replaced both bearings and the seal and everything was right then. So I would say replace the bearings and you...

    super a Headache

I know this doesn’t help you now but next time you try to remove a stuck stud or bolt try heating it and melting wax or a crayon into the threads. Since a machinist friend taught me this trick all my "easy-outs" have been collecting dust in my tool box. I've even got rusty exhaust bolts off car...

Super A steering knuckles tipped. Which way?

I was changing out my front tires on my "48 Super A when I noticed the axle extension knuckles were both tipped. The right one is tipped back (toward the rear) and the left one is tipped forward (toward the front). Years ago it was run with the clamps loose so the pinholes are a little...
