    OT- I'm out

About repetitive questions; Working in Yosemite I've been asked the same questions, literally, thousands of times. I have to remember that I may have heard the question before but it is the first time for them. The original post started with "I'm not gay...." It shouldn't matter if someone...

    Rear wheels won't turn...

According to the guy at the local tractor parts supplier I could be putting too much load on the bearings and that a few spacers/shims/whateveryouwanttocallthem should probably take care of the problem. The old bearings were worn a bit and the new ones are new with no wear. The clue was that...

    Rear wheels won't turn...

hanks. I'll loosen the brake shoes on that side and try again tomorrow.

    Rear wheels won't turn...

he bottom link was leaking so I took off the whole thing, did a brake job, replaced the gasket for the bottom link, torqued it, then cleaned up the whole thing. Then I saw the bearings (BB4221B) on the ring gear and case assembly (9N4204) were pitted, so I changed both of those and the cup...

    Rear wheels won't turn...

hat's sounds right. Neither wheel turns when everything is torqued to specs. There must be something else going on then. I'll take it all apart and then put it back together and see what happens.

    Rear wheels won't turn...

Yes, I know the wheels are supposed to turn in opposite directions. I read the manual. That's not the problem I described or asked about. Neither wheel will turn when all the nuts (the ones that hold on the axle and brakes) are tightened.

    Rear wheels won't turn...

The rear end is up on blocks, still attached to the rest of the tractor. I took the left axle housing off and the ring gear out. The bearings and cones on both sides were pitted, so I replaced them. Then I left axle housing on and tightened all the nuts and admired by work. Then I noticed no...

    ford 8n shifter boot

I solved that problem by buying the wrong one. I think it was for an International. It fit perfectly and went on with no boiling, stretching, or soaping.

    Transmission cover question...

Thank you. $150 doesn't sound all that bad. At least $50 or so for shipping. I'll be able to afford it once I get back to work in the spring. Those are the only parts on the tractor, other than the riveted axles, that do not go along with the serial number. The smooth axles cost way too much so...

    Transmission cover question...

Thanks again. I love the A&W root beer. Not many of those places left. Most out here are combined with a KFC. They're not the same. I need to find a bone yard around here. The closest one doesn't have much in the way of pre WWII stuff. All the early Ford stuff was bought up years ago or...

    Transmission cover question...

f you're down that way again, see what they want. No rush. I won't be working on that part of the tractor until next winter. Restoring this thing is a long term project. Thanks.

    Transmission cover question...

'm afraid of what it would cost. I'm a seasonal park ranger in Yosemite and 6 months off leaves me with very little money in the winter. I've already blown my winter budget for tractor parts on the bearings for both sides the rear end and a brake kit for one side (other side already done)...

    Transmission cover question...

hanks for the pictures. I'm interested but your email and PMs are turned off. You can email me if you still want to part with those parts. Thanks.

8n stalls out after running fine for a couple minutes

t was a 1964 Plymouth Valiant, with the push button transmission, 225 slant six. Great engine. I had to get it home after someone stole the battery. Maybe I just got lucky, but it worked. My high school auto shop teacher said it would work in one of his classes, so I gave it a try.
