    Remembering sounds

Waukesha 145 GKZ,779 cubic inch overhead valve gasoline six in a 1949 Peter Pirsch firetruck in full hue and cry. By comparison, makes a NASCAR sound like a sick Wal*Mart chainsaw. White 2-85 with the 6-354 Perkins has an amaxzingly pleasing sound for a relatively small displacement engine.

    East Weather

Joe Bastardi, one of the world's best meterologists, on Weather Bell.com says that this is going right up the coast, and could be a Cat 2 hurricane just off the coast from Barnegat Bay, NJ to the very tippy tip of Long Island. Tropical storm force winds on the coast at least and maybe Cat 1...

I posted this on the construction side too.

    4440 HFWD and 158 loader

I have seen our local Deere dealer do the same thing with a 4440 HFD. If it were mine, I'd have the dealer do it, that way I'd be sure it was being done right and there was no danger of lack of lube, etc. Just my $0.02.

    ot, loading a b-24

Interesting anecdote about the B24: at the beginning of the war we gave some to the Brits for Lend Lease. In one unit, they reported consistently that the bomb bay doors would not open at altitude. Once the plane landed and an American crew took it up, it worked flawlessly. Then the Americans...

    Accidents in the home

My father in law went that way, too. he was 87, doing pretty well, then fell in the bathtub. The end came in a couple of weeks. Proteins in the blood from the bruises did in his kidneys. Nothing scares me more than slips and falls. Bad enough for me, but would be a disaster for my wife. Our...

    Tonight's weather!

1/2" of ice and 1/2" of rain and 3" of snow up here in the accursed St. Lawrence Valley yesterday and last night. These Texas storms have been taking a direct bead on us here. Last week a Texas storm gave us 1 foot of snow, 1/2" of ice and then 3/4" of rain to sweeten the deal.

    Septic tank question

Nearly all systems now put all the water into the septic, but a lot of the older ones used to run the washer water separately, into a dry well, daylight in a field or ditch or in a gutter in the basement (one place I knew of when I was a kid). Kitchen waste water will help the septic action, as...

    Linkedin?

I agree 100%. I tried it a few years ago, and like you had too many password issues, and on top of that it wouldn't let me correct typos I made in entering my profile info. I haven't used it since and have been deleting emails they send about this or that person wanting to contact me on...

So whats the deal with scrap metal?

Nice pickup bed trailer. On another tractor board a few years ago, that would have garnered some nice comments. Re the scrap prices, aside from the scrap yard owners, the low scrap prices can't be all bad, for tractor collectors (less chance of good parts tractors being scrapped) and local...

    $40,000. Farmall H?

Like Ray said further down, over $39,500 in the tool box. Around here, Farmall H's are pretty generic. Dime a dozen. There is one rusting away behind every barn in the county. Pretty much all anyone around here did with them was pull wagons or maybe mow hay or pull a ground drive crap...
