I guess Carter Brothers is out of business-no luck finding the metal disc that goes on the end of the crankshaft(like old rear engine Snapper mower) so I am checking into possibility of using a Snapper disc..Disc has 1 inch hole and cheap motor has 7/8 shaft so will have to use a sleeve and...

D2 cat, does anybody know of a pony motor for sale?

Hello, one of my friends recently acquired a d2 cat that is missing the pony motor. I have not had a chance to run out and look at the machine yet but he says there used to be a battery on the "fender". Is there any chance this could've been converted to a direct start like you see with a lot of...

Freeing a stuck diesel engine, any suggestions?

Hello, I have a 1130 Massey with a Perkins diesel that I purchased with the motor locked up. It was parked because of a bad water pump and a stuck clutch and neglected for a few years. You guys probably know the rest of the story, now it appears the motor is locked up. Does anybody have any...

1130 Massey, Is it possible to pull start these?

Well, I pulled the starter off and tried to stick a pry bar in there to turn it over and it still didn't want to move. When I put the starter back on clicked it over still clicked and moved just a tiny bit. By pulling that unloader valve up, what all does that decompress?

1130 Massey, Is it possible to pull start these?

Hello everybody, I recently bought a 1130 Massey and charged the batteries up to see if it would fire and wouldn't turn the fan over more than just a half a inch every time you click the key. Sign of maybe being froze up a little bit? Are you able to pull start these? I was told the tractor ran...

Restoring a 706 American diesel, do they all start this h...

I put all new glowplugs on it and my cables actually look very good, not that old really. When I press the button for the glow plugs it jumps to the right real fast, I always remember it moving real fast like this. So it should rise somewhat slowly but steady then? It only takes a split second...

Orange Power of the Past 2012 Pictures

Thank you for posting those pictures. Always a great sight to see those old gleaners still running too. My family has owned several new gleaners ever since they came out. Around here people call them galvanized pheasant feeders, and we are next to South Dakota, pheasant capitol of the world so...

Interesting quote said about the John Deere D's

So this might be a little off topic but I was reading in a book the other day about the John Deere D"s and there was a quote in there about them. A older gentleman that grew up in the 20"s and grew up around the D"s through their whole span of production said, "If you can find a one owner John...

Restoring a 706 American diesel, do they all start this h...

It sure is the 282, seems to be a great running tractor but the starting issue is such a pain. It hasn't been used real hard for probably 15 years so I figured that doesn't help much at all either.

Restoring a 706 American diesel, do they all start this h...

Recently I decided to take on the task of restoring my late grandfathers 706 diesel. I believe it is a American diesel with the pump on the right side of the motor. Anyways, this tractor has started hard for so many years. It seems like you press the glow plug and hold it for a while and it...
