    Kondoge, Check for a exhaust leak around the #4 exhaust port. Use a short length of hose held to your ear to help find the leak.

    montidale, Check the piston ring lands for excessive wear. above wear limits. That will cause hard starts and excessive smoke and oil consumption .This is a Easley over looked step in a rebuild but it is very important!

    throttle control arm

    FHJ Remove the two bolts that holds the quadrant and remove it.Then take a short piece 1/2 water pipe 12 inch long or so ,slide it over the lever bend it downward some a little at a time so it puts some pressure on the throttle arm so it stays in place.

    BIG STAR ,I would drain the oil again ,then shake the pickup tube and see if is loose. If it is loose that is why you have no oil pressure.You need to pull the pan to correct the loose pickup tube. If the head gasket is leaking you would be better off pulling the engine out and on a stand so...

    BigStar, When you had the drain plug out did you reach up and try to shake the pickup tube to see if it was loose at the oil pump and if it would wiggle?

    Bigstar, Oil Pump Prime ,Putting oil in the oil pressure gauge line is the easiest place to prime the pump.Take the line loose from the gauge then take a 1/2 pint pump oil squirt can, or even a pump up garden sprayer hook up length of vacuum hose to the oil can/sprayer and to the oil line.Pump 2...

    If you do not get a pint jar of gas out of that, what does that indicate. the screen in the elbow is plugged up.
