Why I became a Case Collector

Nick Have you ever had issues with the dual range popping out of gear. Mine does in spite of replacing the detent spring and new woodruff key on shifter arm. The forks and spacer ring show some wear (see photo) but cannot believe that is the problem?- DZ in NC

carb air intake on 310/320 - picture

Joe-Thanks very much for your reply. I since had my starter guy replace the solenoid and it turns over now fairly reliably. However the fuel system is very "touchy" now after rebuilding the Zenith carb and throttle linkage, which seems bass ackwards. When you push the hand throttle towards the...

    Case '56 310 Backhoe Stalls

Recently rebuilt the Zenith series 61 carb, new 12 V coil, and thoroughly cleaned and lubed the throttle linkage. Now the beast starts and idles but stalls under load even when warmed up. Fuel drips out of the intake when she is not running. What is going wrong here? Dennis in NC.

Any Other Dual Range 310's out there?

Stephen - The problem turned out to be the battery connection to the solenoid and the solenoid not grounded to the starter properly. I cleaned all fittings and wire brushed the starter carcass where the solenoid resides and the starter attaches to the tractor body. Had to double nut the battery...

Any Other Dual Range 310's out there?

Stephen-Thanks for the reply. The solenoid only "clicks". The starter is newly rebuilt and seems strong when it is engaged. Would you recommend attaching the Battery Ground cable directly to the solenoid ground strap connection? Currently it is attached at the starter motor top mounting bolt.I...

Any Other Dual Range 310's out there?

I have a 310 wheeled utility tractor with dual range that I am restoring. Currently having trouble getting it started, even with new harness, battery and starter/solenoid? It is a 6 to 12 conversion that ran fine for a week now won't start.
