    Hyd steering help

I think we'll forget the loader plan. I have an old Ford with a loader we can get by with. Steering is working well now. The hyd feedback from the steering is goofy, but so far no issues.

    Hyd steering help

OK, it's a model 245 with diesel 3 cyl. We were able to get it bled pretty easy. It has the reservoir on the right side driven by the acc case. Lifted the fronts, filled the canister,, sart it up and just turned both ways. Add more fluid, same deal. We kept going until it was pretty firm and the...

    Hyd steering help

I'll go back down to the airport and get the model number. I used to use the turn lock to lock method on older cars with the canister bolted to the PS pump driven by a belt. That would drive the air out eventually to the canister. I don't know if that will work on this tractor but I can try it...

    Hyd steering help

OK, this really isn't an antique or even vintage tractor. We have a MF from around 1990. It has hydraulic only steering. That is, there is NO mechanical connection between the steering wheel and the front wheels. There's a pump with two lines, and a ram on the left side. I know there's no mech...

    Ford 4600-write it off?

I've gone the repair seized engine twice now. While it's worth it in the long run if done 'in frame', the cost and time are significant. If the rest of the chassis is in good shape, and it doesn't NEED a clutch job, I'd take it to some small tractor place and let them do the in frame rebuild...

1950-51 8N whim purchase **OH BOY! IM IN TROUBLE**

That list is a very good start. I think if you get those items done, you're going to have a good running 8N. I started with an 8N about 1952, and my worst issue was dist bushings were shot and the timing and gap was all over the place. Since you have a new one, that shouldn't be a problem. After...

    Snakes

At my off-grid cabin in NM I see one on occasion. I leave them alone. Only had one little guy get in the cabin once and I relocated him about 2 miles away. I fed a rosy boa once in a while at a home I had in SoCal. We'd see him and I'd drop some jerky or once a slice of peach, and even a little...

How do I upgrade to electronic ignition? 1959 Farmall 140

The Hall effect voltage is very low. There is a hi gain amp embedded in the potted block, but still - the system is susceptible to even small stray voltages. Most of us know from using an inductive timing light how much stray current is on hi tension ignition wires. Given the units are installed...

    Farmall M Trojan Road Grader

Nice find Ed, thanks for offering up whatever info can be found. Not sure about the 'highly prized' by collectors, but at least a few of us weird folks like them. The one near me is quite rough. Beyond 'patina' into grunge but it seems to be running a bit.

    Farmall M Trojan Road Grader

Update an old thread. I found one in N TX that's in rough shape. It's been sitting for 30 years but it's not seized! I may grab it up if I get a few more projects finished this spring/summer.

    T20 fergie,hard steering

What is "rotella t 10"? If it's 10 weight, that is too thin. 30wt winter, 40wt summer.

    T20 fergie,hard steering

Yes, any of the 10Si alternators will work fine. Does not need to be 100 amp, if 60 or 36 amp will work find if it's cheaper.

    Caterpillar Grader 112

I run an Allis Chalmers D grader with no brakes. Never had them. Just drop the blade a bit.

    T20 fergie,hard steering

I have a TO-20 and it steers fairly easy. I'd say the steering box or spindle bearings need looked at. Shouldn't need a PS kit for this little tractor.

Ever been stopped by the highway patrol for a safety check

If it's a law enforcement person, they better have probable cause to stop me. Of course, they can always make up some story; 'he was weaving...'. Or bash out one of my taillights during the stop.
