Are those just the bulbs? I have some led bulbs here. So maybe I don't have to be replacing the ballasts that are shot then if I use those? I just threw away 4 2bulb 4 ft fixtures last week. I went thru my stash again and swapped bulbs around, those that didn't work for tossed. Those that did...

Thinking about building a truck from basically scratch

Slow progress. Dealing with insurance on the house hail damage. In their ultimate wisdom state fraud insurance felt a need to put the bank I pay the mortgage to, as first name on the check for the hail damage. All they want is to run interference. I had to sign a paper saying "intent to...

I thought T8 was the newer florescent tech. And that was what everyone was switching to from t12 which is what I still have. I have 4ft t12 fixtures in my garage still. I bought a shopping cart fill of cheap 4 ft fixtures at lowes 20 years ago. Of 20 fixtures I returned 14 of them within 3...

    Powdercoating anyone?

If you look at that RAL color system they show paint as small as the "touch up" to gallons to match to any given color. That RAL system I think was based in Europe.

I might have posted some of these already but here's some of what I have powdercoated for this job If they come out in the post it's gas tank straps, disc brake shields, calipers hood hinges and door hinges I have a bunch more small parts that Ive done.

    Powdercoating anyone?

This isn't "universal" by any means but I mostly seem to see factory manufactured parts that were powdercoated that peel and don't hold up than parts that were (re?) done after the fact. I've asked local powdercoat guys about it and they say it's all in the prep and when your goal is to cram a...

    Powdercoating anyone?

I had to go thru 3 different greens (and redo the door hinges as I used those as my test pieces) to get the right one for my truck door and hood hinges. Those sample plates aren't always right and those (my name for them) model car bodies they show are also "off" especially if looking at pix of...

Thinking about building a truck from basically scratch

One of my rear spring perches is bent downward, the leaf spring had 2 busted leaves on that side, I went and picked up another Dana 60 and I'm not sure if I'm gonna swap it out or if in gonna buy a set of spring perches and cut the bent one off and weld in a new one. Other side is fine and will...

Thinking about building a truck from basically scratch

Well continuing with powdercoating small "underneath" parts. I don't know why but I decided to do the calipers red, once done I thought it was dumb. But they're underneath and won't be readily seen very much anyway.. Doing the caliper brackets black and spindles gray. Spindles are in the oven...

    Powdercoating anyone?

I have been using the Eastwood "pre* as a final wipe down with a few of my parts getting a lacquer thinner wipe instead. The stuff I've been able to do "farm to table" style but rather straight from sandblaster to coating with no sitting around in between I've only blown off with an air wand...

    Powdercoating anyone?

More powdercoating today Doing the front spindles as we speak right now, last of the gray at least for a while. Back to black at least for a handful of stuff. I've talked to others (back when I paid the last time to have it done/ and since on various forums) and most ive talked to seem to...

    Powdercoating anyone?

Some powder is lower temp, just have to look at the exact stuff you're using I've seen pix of carbs done on another site I've talked about this on

    Powdercoating anyone?

And now if I have to redo some of the "thinner" parts like the battery tray down the road I already have what I need for it, not gonna have to go rebuy anything down the road. And I have plenty of extras of most of the "thin" parts that would be most likely to have a problem with rusting out...

    Powdercoating anyone?

Well I might have to watch parts like my battery tray, disc brake shields and gas tank straps but I'm not worried about parts like calipers or spindles or the pitman arm or even the hood hinges rotting away even if left bare.... There's some meat to those haha and the front end parts came bare...
