What would you consider the % of moisture in dry/burnable wood to be? Below 30%? 20%?

What do you know about railroads

A farmer I worked after college took his backhoe down to clear out a mess like that. Within three weeks, when it got real wet with fall rains, the local train that hauled lumber, seed and steel derailed at that very spot. He never fessed up. I was fascinated to watch the salvage crew cut a...

    Propane tank fill valve gasket

My son is trying to fill a horizontal 25 gallon propane tank. They started the fill and found a leak at the gasket between the tank and fill neck. A Web search didn't reveal anything; what is this gasket called and where might we find one?

5000 SOS is a no go

The last 5000 I split I was amazed that the rear end just "hung there" and didn't want to drop forward or backward. I'm thinking it was brake drag that kept it stable. Nonetheless, I kept a floor jack underneath it for safety sake.

5000 SOS is a no go

Thinking about Mike rebuilding his trans got me thinking about the pump gasket problem you had with your 6000. I took a look on eBay to see if any of the black rubbery gaskets are out there (none listed). You can get the paper gasket from CNH for 12.25, but that's the one that gave you grief...

    Tomorrow is the Day

I just did them one location at a time. Seems like I used a 12” grease gun hose and a bell reducer that was 1/8” pipe on one end and 1/4” pipe on the other since my gauge had 1/4” threads. Traction disconnect out, gauge hooked up to band #1 port and cycle through each gear and record your...

Ford 5000 Not sure what to Think!

I have two SOS 5000's and really like them. Too many projects to take on another one. I know Arlen would have called me and ask if I had seen the ad...he had an eye for deals. Good luck!

Ford 5000 Not sure what to Think!

I found it easier to install a street elbow in that hole so your funnel can stand straight. The challenge is since you are essentially filling the vent hole it has to "burp" alot. You won't fill it quickly so bring your patience along with your 134.

    log splitter

We bought a 27 ton Champion from Home Depot and it has served us well. It will push through some nasty stuff (oak). I only run non-ethanol fuel and it has a fuel shut-off so I run it dry when we are done. It will start on the first or second pull each time. This model tilts from horizontal to...

    CA hand clutch lever

My CA is missing the hand clutch lever and retaining bolt. Does anyone have one from a parts tractor? What is the thread of the retaining bolt; looks like it might be 9/16-18? My email is open if you have the parts you would like to sell. Thanks, Tim

    Massey 12 knotter problems.

Masseys use a bow tie knotter. They dont leave two cut tails like a John Deere or New Holland. Looks like your twine is breaking as it is pulled off the bill hook. As mentioned, a dull knife or the bill hook not releasing. I can dig out my book tomorrow afternoon if you don.t figure it out.
