    3300 Combine Transmission

    Make sure that the clamps that hold the cable housings, under the combine, are tight. Had this problem several times on a 3300 and a 6600.

    I can think of at least two single store John Deere dealers still in Illinois. Avon and Belleville. I'm sure there are probably more.

    JD 4400-Can't get into 4th gear

    There are cable clamps down on the transmission. One of them is loose. Tighten it up. This is a common problem with the 00 series combines.

    Pekin, IL. dealer in 1968?

    There are no tractor dealers left in Pekin. My wife, who grow up in Pekin, thinks the dealerships name was Depperts. She says there were only 2 dealerships there in that era. One was a IH dealer east of Pekin on Rt. 9. The other was Depperts which was downtown near the bridge.

    I hauled the one I have from northern Ohio to West Central Illinois. 97 Dodge 2500 pulling a deckover gooseneck trailer.

    If you already had a 24T, I don't think you will ever be happy with a NH 273.

    Does a 30 series w/o a 1000 pto still have it?

    4030"s came new with a 540 only, a 1000 only, or the dual speed 540/1000 pto"s. My 4030 had just the 540 rpm shaft. My 2510 has the dual shafts. I took the 2510 1000 rpm shaft and put it in the 4030. It fits properly and works just fine.
