    Smokey gets a workout

When we first got it, it had the differential out of it due to no oil. At the time that was fine as we bought it for the engine as we thought our old one had a cracked block which turned out not to be the case. Long story short, we found the parts we needed, fixed it up, and the first time I...

    Smokey gets a workout

Second time in three days Smokey's been called to duty. Side mount and the only added weight to the tractor is my 250 lbs. on the seat. He handled it well. We missed out on the White Christmas but looks like we are going to have a White New Year. Well gonna get a mug of cocoa and relax with a...

    Farmall. 300

Ran into that one winter myself. I had a heat houser on it and had it parked under a a tarp, much like the portables that are big today. It would start up alright but then as you say it would stick in its normal wide open, not over speeding, throttle. Once it run awhile and got good and warm...

    O/T New Scam???

Got an email not too long ago from my 'aunt' saying how her trip to Spain was a disaster. The hotel room was robbed and now they had no money and the embassy was no help at all. 'Please send money'. I almost fell out of the chair laughing as I had been to this very aunts home the day before...

Not only seeing them work, but there is no greater sound in the world than a Farmall working in the field.

    12 volt system

It is possible that when the truck started you blew the alternator on the tractor. I jumped my cousins car one time as he had a dead battery. ONce the car started he put the throttle to the floor before I got out of my truck to disconnect the cables and it blew my alternator. I didn't realize...

    International No. 25 tractor mower

Had one of those given to us years ago. Guy wanted to get rid of it. It didn't have the flat drawbar to bolt to back of the tractor so I welded a couple of short pieces of channel under the frame and bolted 3pt pins to them. It could then be hooked easily to any 3pt hitch. Didn't worry about...

    farmall c starting

Had similar problem with dad's C. Ground cable was attached to the box on the steering pedestal but once I attached the ground cable to the hydraulic unit that solved our issue.

    FFA Tractor Restoration

I'm with you on that thought. I painted an 'H' for my uncles in '93 which was the first tractor my grandfather had bought and I painted the weights and the lugnuts black to make them standout more.

no fire on a BS engine

If you have a Champion spark plug in it, I would start by putting in an Autolite 456. Have had nothing but trouble the last 25 years with Champions. Every so often I will try em just to see if they've improved but the last one I tried did nothing but misfire. That was a year ago and I doubt I...

Warm day, so I enjoyed it the best I could.

Same here today in NE Pa. I went out and tore my old dump trailer apart to rebuild it. All the wood on it was completely rotted away and as soon as the ground freezes put it to use hauling in firewood for next winter.

Sounds like a poor or loose connection on the cables. Clean the battery terminals and cables and also clean the connections at the solenoid and starter.
