    New to Me Diesel 656 with a few Questions

    Your tractor either came with clamshell fenders or no fenders. IH did NOT put single headlight fenders on a 656 and it was not the buyers option. The headlights by the fuel tank are a dead giveaway of clamshells or no fenders.

    Opening a can of worms!

    I have 5 hydros and won't run anything but hytran in them. Oil is cheap compared to a trans rebuild. Yes it hurts up front (1026 takes 106 quarts) over $450 for hytran and filters. It's just not worth it.

    A Farmall 544 diesel came from the factory with 2 six volt batteries hooked in series to get 12 volts. IE the first batteries positive post is connected to the starter.     Bob you had to do the same thing on a hydra creeper. It drove the tractor through the pto.
