    Power Unit Sheet Metal

I have a 1956 power unit with a gas C-169 engine, no sheet metal. Does anyone know if this unit uses a common grill and hood from an IH tractor, or does it have it"s own unique sheet metal?

    130 ID Plate

Any idea what would have been silked screened in the model field for a 130? "F 130", just "130" or something else maybe?

    130 ID Plate

I am currently restoring a 56 130 for a customer. He has requested I replace the old ID tag with a new one. The old tag has only the serial number stamped on it, which is very clear. There is not any evidence of any other stampings in the "model" field or "RPM" field, like "FAA" or "FCUB" as in...

    Mystery Part

I"m seeking your help in identifying this part. Number cast into part face is 520122R1. Local thinking is it is some sort of steering component. The diameter of the one hole is the same as the steering shaft on my CUB, A and H. On the back side is and indentation of slightly smaller diameter...

    Generator voltage problem

Thanks Teddy, You are absolutley right! Finally an end to this. After trying everything I knew and some things gleaned from this forum, I decided to start over. I went through my pile of old generators and started by replacing the field coil twice, no difference. Then I tried an armature, it...

    Generator voltage problem

Jim,Owen,Gene; Thanks for your insite,I have followed up on each or your concerns. I have double checked the connections from the generator to the regulator, F to F and A to GEN. I have also replaced each wire, still the same result. Lights on, engine off, ammeter shows discharge as it should...

    Generator voltage problem

Your suggestion made good sense, got me to wondering if I indeed had it backwards, so I went out and checked and it is correct, positive ground. I was half hoping you were right. Thanks

    Generator voltage problem

Thanks fellas, Positive terminal is the one that is grounded. Negative is connected to post on starter and also the one connected to the BAT terminal of the regulator,(but I'm going to walk out to the barn and double check, as your dad was right and these things always seem to boil down to...

    Generator voltage problem

Tractor: 47 AV with magneto, 6v generator. Problem: With tractor running, charging voltage drops as you increase rpm. Battery is at 6.3 volts before starting, then after starting voltage drops to 5.85 or so, then continues downward as you increase rpm, 5.81, 5.79, 5.75 and so on. Back to...

    Farmall H antifreeze in oil

Update; after removing the cover, timing gears and engine plate, I found a freeze plug directly below the water pump. Plug had a quarter inch crack. Had to shell out .79 cents for a new one. Always the way it is. Thanks for the help.

    Farmall H antifreeze in oil

Thanks for the info. I have removed the front timing cover and the antifreeze tracks lead from the right side and bottom of the camshaft retainer plate. I'm in the process of removing the camshaft and the rest of the gears so I can get the front plate off and see what's going on back there.

    Farmall H antifreeze in oil

42 H has antifreeze leaking into oil pan through the oil drain back holes at the bottom of the front timing cover. In review of the forums, it appears there is a freeze plug behind that front timing cover? Can anyone confirm?
