Thank everyone for the tips. New gaskets will be here tomorrow, family and I have been enjoying a few days out in the woods.

    Rope gaskets on oil pan

Hi again everyone! I'm getting ready to put my oil pan and timing cover back on, I've never used rope gaskets before is there anything I need to watch or do? I usually use some type of gasket dressing but I'm guessing that's a no-no on a rope. Is it still OK on the timing cover gasket and oil...

    Timing marks?

I wasn't having a really smart day and loosened all 3 bearings at once. I pulled the timing cover and got it properly set, after I get a new gasket for the timing cover I'll finish it up.

    Timing marks?

It definitely turned, I really don't want to have to wait for another gasket to arrive and dealing with the distributor timing and everything with that cover.

    Timing marks?

Hey everyone. I was replacing the main bearings on my '52 8n. In the process the front of the crankshaft dropped a little and I lost the timing with the cam. Is ther a way to find the timing mark on the cam gear without removing the timing cover? I can see a couple tooth faces but without having...

    Loosing oil pressure when warm.

Much thanks again both of you, I never would have consideted pushing the crank shaft up into the engine for an accurate measurement. I don't have an motor stand, just basic tools fit the most part. I did some research on the plastiguage looks pretty straight forward. Looks like I can grab an...

    Loosing oil pressure when warm.

Thanks for all the info, I don't get home for another week but I'll drop the pan and see what I can get done (at least get parts ordered). ASE - I used the dash guage, it's a new guage and I cleaned out all the external oil tubes. I don't have an external guage but I could probably borrow...

    Loosing oil pressure when warm.

Is there a really good rebuild writeup somewhere? I've never done one before and I need all the help I can get. Since the bearings are not in a rebuild kit would it be OK to replace them without an entire rebuild? The compression numbers aren't fantastic but they are in spec I believe.

If it was at idle I wouldn't too much, this is while cutting.

FYI, plugs wires, coil and cap were replaced as a kit from here, points and condenser were electronic so I left them.

    Loosing oil pressure when warm.

Hello everyone, I'm working on a '52 8n, I thought we were finished but about ten minutes into bush hogging for the first time the oil pressure was down to less than 10 psi. Cold its running about 35 psi. I just did a fresh oi/filterl change with Mobile Delcac 15W40 (my local store was out of...

I love this idea, but I am not familiar with this grease, how did it compare to a 90w oil?
