    When i pulled the spark plug I could see piles of rust setting on the piston... I do indeed plan on opening it up i just wanted to see all my options!

    So Isnt 15w40 a little heavy for the engine? I know its all one system. I had a li a couple of years ago and its coming back I think I used sae 30 but not for sure. thanks!

    John deere 420c transmission question

    Hi I am pressing gears onto a 5 speed input transmission shaft and I was wonder if the first cluster and 5th gear should be tight? It has about a paper thick gap and doesnt want to go farther. Just wonder if it will hurt any thing Thanks!

    Yes I am aware of that but I have heard alot of conflicting questions and answers if they are interchangeable or not.

    Hi so a qusetion on 420 blocks.... We have a 1958 420u witha block that is a t3037t But we just got a 420 crawler that has a bad block and the number is t10474t Will a 3037t fit right up? Is there a big difference?

    John Deere 420 Timing Issues

    Yep that was the issue. I just turned the drive cog on the distributor shaft 180 for now. Looking in the spark plug hole, there is a pretty good gouge in the cylinder wall that is now leaking coolant. I'm thinking that it threw a rod and the previous owner tried to fix it and never got it...

    Thanks, the distributor and cap are fine, we even switched them from another tractor and it didn't make any difference. It is converted to 12v, is it possible that it need a different cap? Also it possible that the oil pump off 180?
