Coil for Fairbanks Morse FM-K4B Magneto

Wore out - Im showing 1.6 ohms on the lead coming off the coil to the points. Im assuming thats the secondary since its attached to the points. At that low a resistance Id think its grounding out since the resistance between the plug gap and ground would be much higher so itd never spark. So...

Coil for Fairbanks Morse FM-K4B Magneto

Also forgot, but I checked Brillmans and didnt see a replacement for a K4B but Ill give em a call because it could be one of the coils for a J or X might be the same. Thanks again

Coil for Fairbanks Morse FM-K4B Magneto

Ill check it again when I get home to see what the ohm reading is. I dont have a schematic of the coil connections but I figured one side of the primary had to be grounded, but I figured the secondary wouldnt be. So when you activate the stop switch by grounding it to the frame, is it...

Coil for Fairbanks Morse FM-K4B Magneto

Im working on restoring an AC WC (1942) that has a Fairbanks Morse K4B magneto. I checked for spark the other day and didnt have any so I cleaned and adjusted the points and replaced the condenser but still no luck. I eventually found the wire from my coil was grounded when I checked for...

WC Fuel Line, Choke Linkage, Starter, and Magneto Cut-Of

Copy that - Ill get a compression fitting. I also picked up the fuel line from AutoZone so I should be good to go on that. Thanks much for the info!

Yep, I did. Its correct now.

WC Fuel Line, Choke Linkage, Starter, and Magneto Cut-Of

Thanks much for all the info - thats very helpful! Since I posted the questions this morning I bought a couple inverted flare fittings just to try and they did fit so I think Im good-to-go on that issue. So Im guessing an inverted flare is just that - a flare where the bevel is going in the...

WC Fuel Line, Choke Linkage, Starter, and Magneto Cut-Of

Got three questions: I'm installing a new fuel line and plan to run 5/16 copper tubing with flared fittings from the carburetor to the sediment bowl. I'm good on the carburetor end but the sediment bowl has a female connector where the flared angle runs the opposite direction from a regular...

Identification of Linkage Rod and Where it Belongs

Ok, good deal. That takes care of the governor and the choke. One last question and then I think Ill be good-to-go. I was looking over the shop manual and it looks like the throttle linkage starting in the cockpit runs down the right side of the engine and gets connected to the speed control...

Identification of Linkage Rod and Where it Belongs

Thanks Joe. The throttle lever on mine is on top so good to know that part is correct, and I can install the linkage and that part should be good. This brings up a second question though since there's currently a linkage which I believe is intended for the throttle that's connected to the carb...

Identification of Linkage Rod and Where it Belongs

The second picture is supposed to be the one I tried to post for #2 - the area I think it belongs.

Identification of Linkage Rod and Where it Belongs

I'm working on my first restoration and it's a 1938 Allis Chalmers WC. It's missing a couple of parts in the cockpit and a few bolts here and there but it's mostly all there from what I can tell. When I got her home the other day there was a linkage rod (picture #1) laying on the deck of my...

    Dents in Wheels

Yeah I was thinking the same thing - whoever did it got pry-happy with a tire iron or something. Guess they weren t blessed with a quality Harbor Freight tire changing jig back then like we are today. Anyway thanks for the suggestion. The other front wheel is in much better shape so I m not too...
