    wow thanks everyone, thats what it was, the old gasket was solid as metal, I thought I was feeling the metal bottom of the groove but it was the old gasket haha thanks again

    I do have it and the groove is clean but it squeezes out and bulges in places no matter how carefully I hold the bell and tighten the bolt. I wondered if you had to warm or cool the gasket to get it to stay in the groove

    Hey Ive got a new Farmall 300 and when I changed the oil filter I cant get the gasket to seal, Ive tried keeping it loose and tightening it tight, the rubber ring seems to bulge out here and there and leak somewhere no matter what I try.     Why is that? I didnt realize I might need pistons. I think I have a broken ring. I did a compression test and then added a bit of oil to each cylinder and retested and they all came up but the front one less than the others, meaning rings are worn and the front one maybe cracked as I understand...

    Hi I am rebuilding a Allis D-14, new clutch and engine rebuild, not sure if I should get sleeves yet, but for sure top and bottom end and clutch. Where is the best place to get that stuff?     Im going to double check what the viscosity was and try it gently if at all. Thanks so much, Ild change it outright but they charged me a lot for it even at the huge markdown to non synthetic price so hate to just toss it if it will work. Wish I knew someone that needed it haha
