Long Tractors - Anyone Ran Them?

I've owned a 310 Long bought new in 1981 and a 610 bought in late '90s. Tractors are incredibly tough and no cruder than a lower optioned Ford or Massey of the same era. I do not know why people say parts are hard to find, very available. Would a new cab tractor be very nice? Yes, but for my...

Crazy lumber law suit one more time

By the way, I remember going to the sawmill in the late '50s and '60s and getting full dimension lumber that had not gone through the planer. Boy, I wish I could still do that! [color=red:b6ecf98ec9]ME TOO!![/color:b6ecf98ec9] Ain't that right! JWO

Crazy lumber law suit one more time

kcm.MN, thank you. I never said that there would be X number of shrinkage on lumber. What I did say Docmirror, is that for the last 50+ years anytime I wanted to build something, I could go to the lumber store (HD, Lowes, sawmill, whomever) and know that all the lumber would be standard size. I...

Crazy lumber law suit one more time

Hardwoods are not covered under the soft wood specifications, so you are talking apples and oranges, plus wood that was probably cut under no US standards. There are no major commercial mills that I know of that wholesales soft wood lumber below ALS standards. Now, I'm not necessarily agreeing...

Crazy lumber law suit one more time

It appears that people need to educate themselves to the difference between "nominal-2x4" and "dimensional-11/2x31/2" classification of lumber. Then we get to the point that HD or any other retailer has no direct control over the finish size of lumber, and lastly this as goes thru the Dept. of...

    Guido re: christie battery charger

Thanks guys, From what little info. that I can find, the charger appears to be approx. 40-50 amp max output. The 16.5 volt plus that it is showing is to a new, fully charged 12V battery. The needle to the amp meter is also broken so unsure of amp output. I plan to replace that and check. Maybe...

    Guido re: christie battery charger

That's an interesting circuit, especially the "shorted battery protection circuit". Bob, There is no DC output unless you turn voltage switch to 24v and push dead battery boost switch. Then you can turn back to 12v. output but it charges around 16.5-17 volts. I think part of that problem is...

    Guido re: christie battery charger

Sorry that I haven't gotten back sooner. I've been working on a '79 Vette. I hope that you can give some help on this charger. I would hate to junk it if not much wrong with it. The drawing is crude but correct as to where the wiring goes.

In relation to battery charger rant by 55 50 Ron

Hello Guido, I spent several years of my life designing 7.2KV, 12.4KV and 34.5KV distribution lines in Houston TX. In fact I designed the first two 34.5KV distribution circuits that Houston Lighting & Power ever built. I have wired several houses and barns, but this is kicking my butt...
