    How can I tighten up my Super Dexta Super Sloppy steering gear box?

    I took half the shims out of the rocker shaft housing and installed the new upper shaft and bearings on the salvage yard steering box. It's just like new! Just enough slop to make sure nothing binds up. I was fortunate to find a steering box locally that was in such great shape to begin with.

    Thanks for the input. I did bite the bullet and purchased the salvage unit. I've been too busy to get it installed but I have high hopes. It still has a thick stack of shims on the side of the gearbox so the small amount of slop in that area should be correctible by removing some of those shims...

    Pneudraulics must have been the place I bought seals from in the past as I recall they only sell seals {by the seashore)LOL. The place that rebuilds cylinders in Somerset is called Hydraulic Specialties.

    I did attempt to reseal the original cylinders. I bought kits off Ebay and they just didn't match up perfectly with what remained of the original seals.     Thanks for the replies. As I suspected I have much exploratory surgery to perform. I do tend to think the new cylinders are the most likely culprit. BTW Harry I'm in central Kentucky too. Boyle County.
