CB radios in tractors, combines, and farm trucks pre cell phone era.

And of course walkie talkies were on channel 14. On a good night, you could get a skip and actually talk to some truckers that were way away from where we were (SE Minn.).

    Shop lighting

WHen I bought the Costco ones (feit brand) they were on sale for less than $20 for 2 before 2020. The 8 ft. LEDs were a lot more expense.

    Shop lighting

I went from 3 8 ft FL down the center of the ceiling of shop (old corn crib with 10 ft ceiling) to 6 4 ft LED Fl from Costco at 45 degree angles where the wall meets ceiling. Every bit as much light with no shadows.

    Real ID

Got real ID on Good Friday in Iowa. Took my license, passport, original SS card and a power bill with my name on it. All I needed. Took 10 minutes. Wife got hers then too... another 10 mins. I have had a passport since I was 13 (am over 60 now). Renewed my latest passport on line - took my own...

    Wide vs Narrow Front End

What Farmall and others called "standards" were all wide fronts if I remember right - like 10-20, 15,30, 22-36, W series, etc. Grew up with narrow fronts until the IH 656 arrived in early 70s. I have both now. The narrow fronts are more maneuverable. On my Co-op E2, you could not turn very...

In praise of LED lighting for older tractors!

I have LEDs on all three of my Co-ops (E2, E3 and E5) and they are 6v pos. ground. The initial ones I bought were from Steiner. They worked great in the E5 and they had no warning that they were only for 12v. Then I bought another set from them that I am pretty sure were the same part number...

    Mouse traps

I use bucket traps. Have had up 5 at a time in there. Each morning check trap and if there are occupants, I take off lid, take to hydrant, put 4-5 inches of water in. Walk away. Come back in 10-15 mins. and they are history. Water and expired mice get tossed in the field. Put lid back on and...

    Theisen's

Actually, if you were an existing customer, you did get notification of the new website launch was coming. Got email I think about 1-2 weeks ago. And got another today with instructions on how to update my pw on the new site. I did with no issue. Good luck and I hope things work out. They are a...

Glad it all worked out and thanks for letting us know. I think most on here like a "good" ending!

Barn (ok, machine shed) cat questions

Trouble catching coons? Use a mix of oats and black oil sunflowers. No cats, but will catch coons, opossums and skunks with great success. Managed to trap a whole family of opossums over the course of several days with that bait.

    Small New Holland Chain Baler

We had an 845 New Holland. Was a good machine. Oiled all the chains every day before using. Made about an 800-850 lb. bale. Ran with an International 656. Manual twine wrapped bale. Small by today's standards
