1950 JD A - convert from magneto to distributor?
I am a fan of keyed shutoff from the seat and EI. 178488 Is the part number for the distributor right here from yesterdays tractor. 330 dollars. I would purchase the distributor first and convert to EI once it’s time for points it’s still going to cost 500 bucks but it’s split up a bit that way...- Fixingfarmer

Confused on A vs B physical dimensions
If you have a pre 1938(or 37?) unstyled B will be a shorter frame length mine is a 38 dads is a 36 his is shorter so depending on what year unstyled b you are going off yes they could be the same length. The clutch mechanism is different as well that’s laying on the pallet next to it since this one was tighter he was going to try to use it but it didn’t fit and wouldn’t work till we switched it back B1308r is what appears to be cast into this one- Fixingfarmer

It will not fit had to help someone last year put the old crank back in we tried the reverse new to older styled but I kept the crank on a pallet that didn’t fit. Which casting number did you need?- Fixingfarmer

Mine is at the abandoned farm site and it’s supposed to rain all day but I’ll pull the cover this morning if it holds off tomorrow and look won’t be spraying for a week the way it’s going. I have seen similar hose ends at caterpillar with the 2 clamp ends if you can’t find it through cnh (and if there’s a construction cnh outfit nearby I’d see if they are more adept at this) I’d take it there and they can build you a hose it will likely be a slightly longer in the hose section...- Fixingfarmer

Battery Chargers...
I have had similar luck with Schumacher. Noco has been good for trickle chargers. We had at work an Associated charger they are blue that is also still made I think a 6001 was the model it is about 4 times the price as the junk ones but it’s about your only option to replace what you have.- Fixingfarmer
