    Carb cleaning

I used a solution of sodium hydroxide (Drano crystals) to soak a badly corroded Carter 938SD. If you use this don't leave it in for a very long time. I soaked over a period of about 3 hours at a time, rinsing it out after each soak and checking it after. For the seat you can use a q-tip...

    Carlisle Ag Tire Warranty

Anyone have any experience with Carlisle ag tire warranty? My little B1750 Kubota got a new set a while back, under 2 years old now, and developed a sidewall split that runs down and around both sides of a lug. They are the Carlisle R1 and from reading the warranty, it looks like I have to...

Talk me out of an MF 65...

I have a 1964 Massey 65. I really like it and think its about as easy to work on as tractors get. I use it for road scraping and bush hogging with a 6 ft cutter, no problems at all. I did all repairs mine required which was actually pretty minimal, just a bunch of little stuff with the help...

    MF65 Sway Chains/ Stabiizer links

You need sway a bar. I have a 6 ft on mine, not nearly new. The sway bar keeps it from flopping around so much. It doesn't hit the tires.

    MF65 Power steering concerns

I believe its Dexron III that meets the spec. That's what I've been using in mine with no ill effects and no leaks. I want to say it took just under 3 qts but I really don't remember.

    I bought a Tractor-- MF65 Diesel

I think you will like that tractor subject to its limitations. The only problem as I see it is a relatively low hydraulic pump flow of about 6-7 gpm. I like mine and it has done everything I have asked of it though it is used mainly for bush hogging and road scraping and I just like to ride it...

    Injection Pump Rebuild Shop

From his business card Richard Norman 574-835-3292 cell [email protected] I used him for my pump reseal and was very pleased with both price and service. He is very thorough.

    Pic of the day

I have that Panasonic wireless call blocking phone and I dearly love it. It blocks up to 180 phone numbers and is quite simple to block a number. Simply hit call block and yes. Done. After a while the call block register fills up and I delete it and start over. Its ok though because they...

    Diesel MF35 questions

The hydraulic pump filter is a screen type attached at the pump inside the tractor. You have to drain down the fluid level below the round PTO shift cover and remove it. Look inside and you can see the filter, a round looking thing beside the pump and with a securing wire tie if it has not...

    Fuel gauge on 135

I don't see a problem with bending the float arm as long as you have full travel. Due to the lack of internal baffling in the tanks its probably going to swing around 1/4 tank or so when it gets to moving anyways. I had to do this on an old jeep and the best thing you can say about that...

70 diesel leaking diesel into crankcase w/o running

I believe that the injection pump shaft seal can leak into the crankcase when worn out. This is the shaft where it mounts the drive gear I'm talking about. If thats the case a reseal is about your only option. Dieseltech would be the go to man.

    Work Bench tops

I don't know about plans but for material the best benches and tops I have ever seen were made from a repurposed bowling alley floor and from recovered semi truck flooring. I used to work at a mill where they made the flooring and it was pretty wild to see big pieces of wood sawn down to...

MF 1105 on the JD 348 Square Baler

I have never seen a bale kicker on a baler around this area. In my haying days that would have been me with a hay hook riding on the trailer at the discharge and throwing back to the stacker. I stuck that thing in my leg one time and man oh man I bled like a stuck hog. The first pick up...

Seneca Falls keyway and spline cutter

Thats quite the rig. I see a lathe dog drive on the spline being cut and a fan on the gear sector control for the involute being cut to get number of spline teeth. Looks like it would be quite fiddly to set up but it would work. Since its a change gear lathe (I think) I wonder if there is a...

    Massey 65 starter

OK I received the new starter yesterday. On inspection it is ever so slightly different being that the new one does not have a wick at the motor end. I cleaned all connections and installed the new one without problems. I pulled the clutch inspection plate to check for debris in the bottom...
