Sorry for the late reply twiggy, been away for a while. I moved the engine forward and left the rear blocked. Something like this; I left the fuel tank and steering on the SOS and disconnected the throttle, choke, fuel line and main harness. Removed the center cowling, rear hyd. supply... -

I am experiencing the exact same issue on my 67 3400 and after splitting and cleaning up the bell housing I thought I would adapt a 5 hp 240 v electric motor and see exactly which seal was leaking. Well I could not get that sucker to leak, not even a drop! Very frustrating.
