1980 Massey Ferguson MF-205 Overheating
Caryc and Jim.ME . . . . yes I have been filling too high. Picture of fan is attached. YES, I can turn the alternator pulley (where the belt goes) by hand. I guess that answers the question that my belt is indeed too loose. Will get a new, shorter belt.- flagnanman

1980 Massey Ferguson MF-205 Overheating
The fan is behind the radiator and yes, I can turn it by hand. When I add that quart of water, the coolant is about an inch below the cap. This has been a problem since I re-installed the radiator.- flagnanman

Good evening. Thanks for all of the replies. As I wrote initially, we do add water before running it, at least a quart. So yeah, we are losing that much. No working temperature gauge. My belief in overheating is indeed due to steam coming out of the overflow hose. I had not considered the...- flagnanman

Hello! I have a 1980 Massey Ferguson MF-205 (2-wheel drive). It overheats after 30-45 minutes of use. I'm pulling a 4 foot rotary cutter.
