800 series front axle bushing replacement

As a follow up. I did pretty much what I outlined in the last post. I wire wheeled inside the hole then ran a flap disk around and used a 3/4in Grade 8 bolt to pull it into place. Then I honed to a nice fit per the instructions from Steiners. What I'm thinking right now is that I had some...

800 series front axle bushing replacement

I haven't done anything more with it yet. I'm going to get some 1/2 and 3/4 shank bolts to use as pullers. Right now I'm planning on shaving down some large fender washers to use as a puller to remove it. After that I'll run a flap wheel around it a few times. We'll see how that goes. I think...

800 series front axle bushing replacement

So I have gotten past my generator issue and I'm trying to get a new pivot bushing installed in the front axle. I peeled the old bushing out with an air chisel and did a light clean out of the hole. I started the new one that came from Steiner. It went in about 1/4 of the way and now is refusing...

Help finding a 800 series 6v generator part

I did find a Gen somewhat close to me so I'm going to pick that up when I get time. There is actually enough room in the back of the gen you can use a bolt. I was just hoping to find a stud and put it back to stock. For the moment I had a Fine thread aircraft bolt that works so I put that in...

Help finding a 800 series 6v generator part

So last night I was installing new freeze plugs in my 860. During the process I accidentally broke the armature stud. So far I haven't been able to find a replacement stud. Could someone point me at a site selling parts or if someone has an otherwise junk 6v generator I'd pay for their time...

Ford 1801 Engine; what do I need to replace?

I'd 2nd rings and pistons. With the low hours your putting on per year fresh rings and pistons should last for many years. If you get a bug down the road you can always do a full rebuild but my guess is you'll be pleased with the results afterwards.

Need advice on FRONT tires for a 1956 Ford 860

History Buff how have they held up so far? I need to get rid of the truck takeoffs that are unbeileveably weather check on my 860. 75 a piece I can stomach for a non hard use machine.

    a whats it worth question

Maybe not the most money you could have gotten but it's gone and all parties are happy. Sometimes the effort to get that extra $200 just isn't worth it.

    28 Gauge Jammin

Heyseed- to clarify anytime you cycle the action now it hangs up? I'd just tear it down and clean it out. Any Auto5 variant that I've seen with cycling issues generally just needed cleaned. The 11-48 isn't bad to tear down, just take your time and scrub everything down.

Anyone used a U-Haul car trailer to haul tractor?

I'll dip my toe in the water on this and put on my flame retardant underpants. I just hauled home my 860 with loaded tires home on a U-Haul trailer a couple weeks ago. I used the front tie-downs that go over the tires with the front safety chain and ran 2 large straps over the back axle to the...

    Ford 800 radiator recommendations

Has anyone used one from American cooling solutions out of South Dakota? They Have a brass 4 core that's $170 before shipping and supposedly is a direct bolt in that fits the original shroud. It's got a 1yr warranty so I think I might roll the dice on it. Back to originals I'm just leary...

    Ford 800 radiator recommendations

So I finally got my act together and pulled my long suffering 860 out from a friends pole barn and hauled it home. It is needy but more in terms of routine maintenance than anything else. So years ago I pulled off the original radiator because it was leaking and had mineral buildup. I took it to...

Don't be like this guy....The fate of our hobby

Old F-14 I'm also a younger gent in my 30's in the middle MI area. I was fortunate enough to inherit a Ford 860 that I'm going to get this weekend so that I can get it going from its multi year slumber. If you want to talk tractors let me know. Docmirror. I'm an A&P and I understand what...

    Rock auto

I avoid Rock Auto after they screwed me on a defective master cylinder. If you need any after sales support good luck. They have no phone lines. The only contact point is email answered by people who know nothing about cars. I now use Amazon or get stuff from O'Reilly's. I know that either...

Case 220/lawn mower EZ clutch/engagement with mower issue

There is a Case Colt Ingersol forum that you should go to with lots of guys that are old hands on these mowers. They also have most if not all the service manuals posted there to. A quick google search will bring it up.
