    Engine number decoding please.

D767848 looks like an engine serial number for a 4000, but it would be mid-'68 or newer. If it was a 1966 and gas, it would be a 192 c.i. Check the right front mounting ear of the block for more stamped numbers. There should be a date code there.

    3600 Muffler / Exhaust Options

Like Destroyed said, you already have the manifold for a horizontal exhaust. I'd go that route for your purposes . It would also make it effectively quieter, as the outlet would be farther from your ears. The factory vertical exhaust would be at least 18" farther forward. Doesn't seem like much...

Close to wrapping up 2026 planting

Grace ran the 7600 and 224 disk for me this afternoon, while I ran the TW35 with my cousin's 242 disk. With two of us going, we covered the last 20 acres in good time. I got about 2/3 of the field planted before I had to stop for milking.

"Help on Next Tractor advice" Revisited!

Somewhere, just recently, I saw an ad for a gas 6000. I'll have to try to find it again and post it here. My oldest son was home for a few days. He says there's a Muir-Hill sitting near Rapid City, SD.

7000 - Power Adjust or 8 Loop Rims

Actually, I did narrow the 7600 up once, but then later changed it back. It's stayed there ever since.

7000 - Power Adjust or 8 Loop Rims

I have, but only a few times in 30+ years of farming, and only on the 7000... never on the 7600 or TW35. The 4600 has loop style rims...they were adjusted once.

7000 - Power Adjust or 8 Loop Rims

Replacing the centers and rims will be more expensive than replacing just the rims, and you give up several hundred pounds of weight that a 7000 needs, if you do any heavy work with it. One rim on my 7000 was rusted around the valve stem hole. I used a wire wheel and grinder, cleaned up the...

    Industrial loader - 735?

Thanks, Sean. I agree that if it was made for a 4400, the frame would be too short for a 7000. I know for a fact that it came off my uncle's 7000, so whoever owned it before him must have lengthened the frame.

    Industrial loader - 735?

From my uncle's estate... trying to pin down the model and get a rough estimate on value. It looks a lot like the 730 on Luke's 3000, but it's bigger - it came off a 7000. So I think it's a 735? We took it off several years ago when we replaced the water pump. Since he had a skid steer, we...

4600 uses twin quadrant levers...no draft lever like a 4000 has.

Service Manual for Ford 4600SU not complete

A friend of mine ran into the same thing last week. Called asking for help with the brakes on her 7740, as she couldn't get any help from the manual. I assumed she meant owner's manual, but later she sent a picture of the index of her I&T manual with the words "Index (by starting paragraph)"...
