    4 speeds from the 2000/3000, 1965 and newer, are still single disk clutch/transmission PTO. The also have a different bellhousing bolt pattern than pre-'65 models.

    4000 row crop diesel exhaust

    My son has one like this. The vertical pipe is 35 1/2" on his. (Measured the height, forgot to measure the diameter) Height isn't a critical measurement. Taller gets the smoke and noise farther away from you, but also makes it more prone to hitting overhead obstructions.

    Looked at this Ford 3000 diesel

    The wheel adapters are for using 8" 8 lug wheels (like a 4000 has) on the 6" 8 lug pattern that 2000 and 3000 rear hubs have. Doesn't seem practical, as all Ford's with drum brakes from the 8N on use that 6" pattern... those wheels are easy enough to find.

    Slow to build RPM?

    Sounds like there's trash in the tank. Gets sucked up against the screen on the valve and resticts flow. After the engine is shut off, it floats away from the screen, temporarily allowing normal flow.

    On the meter, faded needles. Mine reads just over 2000 hours, but that's actually 12,000. (It's been here since new) The orange needle on the tach has faded to completely white. (Only applies to open tractors... My 7600 is 4 years older, but the tach needle is still orange... inside the cab.)...

    Yep. On my 5 tractors, only 2 have original, working hour meters. And one of those is on the 2nd time around. Indicated hours on a 40+ year old tractor has little meaning.

    Need help identifying tractor

    My understanding is that's correct. My younger son parted out a 4 cylinder 4000 light industrial that was set up for a backhoe - no PTO, no 3 point or hydraulic pump. But the tubes were present in the transmission.
