    recommend a chainsaw

Both saws are fine, and can go for a long time without incident. There are others as well. Between the two, dealer support and my ability to get parts would be the decider. Husky is a Home Depot type saw here, and if I break it, I"d have to mail order parts and wait. With a Stihl, I"ve...

    Education or working opinions.

"Keep in mind there are no education jobs around here, and in my heart I want to continue expanding our farm rather than teach." I think you answered your own question about what you want to do. I've yet to hear a person proclaim with joy how they gave up a dream and chose to do what they...

    Propane lawn mower.

Lehr is the manufacturer, and they rate it at 1+ hour of run time per bottle. Friend had one of the propane weed wackers. Interesting. We don't use it any longer. Surprisingly hard to start when you install a new propane can. Has to purge everything and that takes quite a while. Power was...

drill doctor- how does it work?

Doesn't drift as much when you're trying to start the hole. You're making the very center of the bit cut better. I'd say that for most folk doing most generic drilling, it isn't particularly important.

drill doctor- how does it work?

Learn making the split point on a larger bit, so you can see what you're doing. This step is much more "by feel" than with machine settings on the Drill Doctor. It'll take a bit of practice to do it right.

drill doctor- how does it work?

I can sharpen bits by hand, but I find using the drill doctor easier. I'fe found the drill doctor to do a fine job, but as another mentioned, somewhere down below the 1/8" size it starts getting right difficult. Reading the written instructions is confusing. When you watch the video, it all...

    Anyone welded with Metal-core wire?

No experience myself, though I've heard good things about it from thin panel welders. This tech link may help you some. linky

    ** OT ** EBAY **

I sell on ebay, and have cancelled bidders before, as well have some blocked so they can never bid on items I have for sale. The worse are when I sell a car or truck or tractor or such. Weirdos and I guess kids come out of the woodwork, posting absurd bids. They have zero feedback and have...

Why is it so hard to estimate bbls of oil?

Kinda hard to lift the bedrock of the ocean. There's nothing to pull against. And the flow has been estimated, just as you suppose it could be. NPR did exactly that a few weeks ago, forcing the Coast Guard and BP to admit their low numbers were bogus.

    Teenage sailor

"It seems that at the first sign of trouble she fires off her emergency beacon and immediately no expense is spared to rescue her." Yep, JUST LIKE Robin Lee Graham did when he lost his mast. Riding wind and waters that break a mast are not "the first sign of trouble".
