Bench testing 3-way switch on model c
I couldn't get lights or amp meter reading last time I ran my C. I checked the ground and it looks clean. Pulled the 3-way. Cleaned all the connections and sprayed LPS into the switch. The fuse and resister are good. I get continuity from the "B" terminal to the "S" terminal with the selector...- FrankS

961 value estimate
What is a reasonable price range for a 961 Ford? Tractor maintains good oil pressure. Hydraulics work fine. 12 volt conversion with new 12 volt coil, new points, condenser, cap, rotor, wires, and plugs. Starter rebuilt. Front tires very good and rears are old with considerable checking and... -

Intermittant run problem
Thanks. As you can tell, ignition systems are not my strong suite. I looked at the points and they looked ok. I'll try replacing them. All the wires and connections are clean and tight. It could be the distributor bushings. Any way to tell without pulling it? The shaft wiggles back and...- FrankS

Intermittant run problem
OK thanks. Then is .12 volts acceptable or should it be lower? Perhaps there was some contamination on the points the first time. I had put a piece of paper in between them afterward to recheck open readings so it may have cleaned it off. Several subsequent readings were all at .12 or .11...- FrankS

Intermittant run problem
Friend has a 901 Ford that will start and run fine then suddenly either not start or miss terribly. 12 volt conversion with resister and 6 volt coil replaced with a new NAPA 12 volt. New condenser. Points look good and gapped at .025. Coil to distributor wire is metal and clean. Was out 2 days...- FrankS

Thanks John. I was told the secondary resistance should be 10,500 to 11,500. Apparently that's incorrect? What should it be? Was getting a misfire when it warmed up and with a new condenser I assumed it was the coil. Yes, I figured that the resistor would have to be retained with the 12 volt...- FrankS

Thanks. I was told the secondary should be 10,500 to 11,500 ohms. What is the correct spec? Also I was getting misfire when it got hot. Since the condenser was replaced I figured it was the coil. The secondary resistance on the new 6 volt coil I bought at Fleet Farm was only 5,100 ohms and...- FrankS

Coil questions
Working on a Ford 901 series converted to 12 volt. It has a 6 volt coil. Resistance between + and - post is 1.5 ohm and from + or - to the tower if 9.09. I assume the coil is in need of replacement. Bought a new 6 volt coil @ Fleet Farm that has "Do not use with external resister" marked on...- FrankS

I don't know. I click on classic view, log in, and get a message that I'm logged in to classic view. I can then click to go to "forum" and click to return to the page. No matter which one I choose, I get the same "Log in to Reply" and "No e-mail". I even logged out completely then logged in...- FrankS

My 8N threw a fan belt, overheated, and now I have bearing chips in the oil. I've already put too much time & money in this tractor and just want to get rid of it.
