    There’s a guy on these forums who goes by: Dieseltech. He rebuilds injector pumps. My advice would be to get the year if your tractor, tell him the brand of your injector pump and send him a private message.

    Injector pumps can seize when a diesel tractor sets, sometimes in as little as a year. Replacement parts for some pumps are unavailable. That's why I asked how long it as sat without running.

    PROBABLY installed at the factory for aerodynamics instead of cooling the transmission. Your tranny has oil lines that are surrounded by engine coolant to keep it cool. By 100K miles, a lot of those “splash guards” are missing more than one fastener and a lot have fallen off or have been removed.

    I’ll openly admit that I’m not a HVAC tech. But around here, the hard start is installed when the unit is getting up there in years and is more of a last resort. Most units, if registered when new, have a 10 year warranty on the compressor. What does yours have?

    My brother used to hunt raccoons with his dogs. He participated in professional hunts. At one time when he was serious about his sport, I think he owned about 10 dogs. Their yelping is unmistakable. Do you know of anybody locally who hunts raccoons with dogs? I bet he would help you.

    If you do a little searching online, this entire filter and housing is available relatively cheap. Good or bad, depending on your point of view, the replacement bottom cap is made of metal. As you surmise, this setup must have been used on over 100 different applications.
