Want input on choosing a new ute

Curious that Honda wasn't mentioned. My wife and I just bought a Honda Pioneer 700 for farm use. We looked at all the major brands and also looked at reviews and it was an easy decision for us. 5 year warranty, no drive belts, great reviews, converts to 4 seats when necessary, and cheapest of...

Storing Round Bales Outside and Loss

In SW Mississippi the figure we always used was 20%. With our humidity it depends more on bale quality. We started with a JD 410 and Vermeer 605C, and over a full season losses could be significant. Newer balers do much better. Usually the outer 2" will spoil and form a layer that protects the...

    Oliver OC-3 crawler

I have an OC-3 and have had the exact issue several times in the last 20 years. It was the coil in the mag every time. I changed points, condenser, plugs, wires, and checked fuel system each time. Mine was always the coil.

    HG 42 Backfire

My OC-3 would do this occasionally. It was the coil in the magneto every time. It would run perfectly until the first hint of a load, then start missing, backfiring, etc. Just another thing to check.

    John Deere 555G warning light

The most common cause of this I have seen with the G series is the transmission filter being restricted. Earlier serial number machines have the filter under the floorboard and the sensor is very sensitive. This is one of the few times I would advise using only a JD filter. Most others (Wix...

    Ford 3000 diesel help!

Check to see if it has a thermostart installed in the intake manifold. If it malfunctions it can dump raw fuel into the intake manifold constantly. If not, the next step would be a compression test.

    Ford 4000 (3cyl) pitman arm

I don't think so, there is a sizable difference in hole diameter. The nut will actually bottom out on the threads before it gets tight in the taper on the one I have. I have located a used pitman arm, I should know in a few days if it works.

Thank you, I will see if I can find a used one for it. Thanks for the reply!

    Ford 4000 (3cyl) pitman arm

I am installing an aftermarket power steering kit on an early (1965-68) Ford 4000. The tractor was equipped with factory power steering with the hydraulic cylinder. We were unable to have the original cylinder repaired, and after pricing the aftermarket kit decided to go that route. I am having...

    Ford 4000 or 5000

I don't have a book in front of me, but think your numbers make it a 4000. However, in 1966 if it is a 3 cylinder, it is a 2000, 3000, or 4000. 5000 has a 4 cylinder engine.

    Duetz fahr tedder

I don't think there is enough range of travel to make much difference, they're mainly there to fine tune the tines so they are all the same. Just my thoughts...
