    Bought my grandpa's '46 John Deere A this weekend

    Several people said don't use diesel, but they didn't say way. The sulfur in diesel combines with water and it will pit your cylinder walls. Happened to me. use the penetarting oil of your choice.

    I bought a 400 diesel, the oil pan was full of antifreeze. I pulled the leaking sleeve, It is a dry wall, The sleeve was fine.     It sounds like you might have picked up something when the grease was thick, and it may have knocked a tooth out of a gear. And if it does it in all gears it would probable be the from constant drive gears. Gene

    I just bid on an F14 head. I need a head for my 1936 F12. I have some unusual domed cast iron pistons. My real question is are F12 and f14 valves the same. Any help is appreciated.

    Farmall M Rough Idle

    I have an ihc H that always idles rough. It smooths out under load. One day I swiped the carb and friends H which Idled smooth. My tractor still ran the same. I think I need new valve springs.

    engine swap

    I have a 660 diesel with a bad engine. I could get a 310 german diesel off a 715 combine. I know that I would have to get a front cover from a 706. But what I don't know is about the back end. Any info would be appreciated. Thank you.

    Super C Head

    I dont know about c heads. But int the H's the lower compression heads had shorter valves because the compression chamber is deeper. The valves are not interchange able. I think that the super C might have have had a higher compression head , but I don't know for sure.

    dealer batteries vs TSC batteries

    I have many tractors that are used at different times. So I swap battery around a lot. This will really shorten the life on any battery. Lately I have been using wallmart batteries.

    Farmall regular carb ? ..

    I bought a new float for my regular from Rice equipment. And the gas ate the shelac off. So I tried gas tank sealer. But it was sticky and stuck the float to the bottom of the carb and flooded it out. Since the I have left it naked.

    I have found that it is better to do the complete tear down and go from there when things have been sitting this long. Good luck.

    help with type of paint

    I painted quite a few tractors with ppg omni, with good results. But the price was getting out of hand. So i tried rustolem with hardener and top coating it with acrylic urethane clear. The first one lives outdoors and has not faded in 3 years.
