    Geared sarter

Well I cleaned it up and replaced the jumper wire and terminals..I used a heavier wire. I put the old jumper on and it works now. The wire is too small and must be just enough resistance to pop out the bendix before the starter turns...complete fluke. So the little wire is carrying the current...

    Geared sarter

I have a 9, 2 and 8n tractors. The 2n needed a ring gear and I ended up putting a geared starter and it and it worked like that without issues. We moved and I had to park it for a couple years. with those geared starters there was a gotcha as it has seperate terminals for the solenoid and...

    Sherman from the mud

I guess the only way to tell if this is a step-up/down is by original colour of the unit?

    Sherman from the mud

So I have a 9n 2n and 8n, my 9N alrerady has a Sherman on it (step-up) but it came with another one that had sunk in the mud and is pretty rusty. I'm sure it could be brought back with all new .. well everything. I've had it a long time and don't see ever needing it but I don't know if I should...

Just the info I was looking for. So the engine had an old jacket draped over it instead of an air cleaner I'm assuming it's not an OEM jacket and I dont see a metal air cleaner anywhere so ill have to find something I can use that has a filter.

Thanks for your help everyone. Runs like a top now still needs 2nd oil change. wires, plugs.. points and cap seem ok. Went with the electric replacement pump. Mechanical one was too far away . Valve train is a little noisey but I'll run it a few more times it's not that noiseybthatbibwould...

    Not a tractor but..

Yup the original pumps there but disconnected. The ignition switch is acc to the left, stop in the middle and run/start to the right so the pump came on a few seconds after the battery hooked up abdxsurprised us. Trying to get spark now probably be running shortly unless the coil is bad I don't...

    Not a tractor but..

I'll have a look I'm headed out there shortly we are going to to get it going. Not really sure how its getting gas. There is a gas tank there probably from the truck but its below the carb and seems to bypass the fuel pump. Seems like it should be gravity fed. This photo shows the only thing in...
